Hi, does anyone have HID headlights in their pathfinder? i was thinking of putting a conversion kit in, but not sure which one to get/ how it would look. And if you could post up some pics that would be great. Thanks, bob

xplorx4 got some original Nissan HID's for his pathfinder - but he had to take a trip to New Zealand to get 'em!

NZD $1500 each. That works out to nearly US $2200 for the pair.

Yeah, Heres the problem I can see and maybe a solution to fix it. HID headlamps require projectors. If you install them in a reflector housing it throws the light out everywhere and soon your goin to have some light show on your back writing you a ticket. However I have seen where people are installing projectors into there lenses and then there is the QX4. Either you could check out a dealership or if your lucky check out junkyards or ebay. I bet if you could just get ahold of some lenses just throw some balast and bulbs in there and it would work. I dont rember what K the infiniti uses. I just dont want the police to bother me or I will just throw silverstar ultras in there and see if I could work with that.

ive been using the Xenon bulbs. ive seen someone melt there headlight housings with HIDS so i would suggest getting the projector housings if you plan on going with a high kelvin rating.

personally i just found it way to expensive and i dont feel like dealing with mad tickets.

yeah but dude, non-xenon lights were not designed to use aftermarket HID kits

this is what an HID cutoff is supposed to look like (TSX projectors shown)

this is what an ebay HID kit looks like when installed into halogen assemblies

No not all HIDs come factory in cars only with projectors. Maximas, Altimas, Lexus GS's LS400, LS430 and a bunch of others use HID lights without projectors. It is true that with HID kits its best to use them in housings that were designed from the start to have HID lights in them or else alot of the times you become the azzhole on the freeway at night blinding everyone and scattering light all over the place. Especially with an SUV I would try another method such as a projector retrofit to get a clean cutoff pattern for the HIDs

and you all have to watch out what is HID and all that bullcrap xenon bulb garbage they sell on ebay, the ebay link to the kit posted is legit.

HIDs run cooler and at 35w instead of the higher wattages used in halogen bulbs, so you really should have any melting of the harness or headlight housing with a real HID kit unless something is really wrong.

Hey, where did you get the projectors in the pic? Do pathfinders in japan have these as OEM?

Thanks!

I have been looking ALLLL OVER trying to find something that will work.

So what is a legitimate light? To the untrained eye (me) the set for $9.99 and the set for $299.99 both included "Two xenon bulbs, two ballasts, and wiring harnesses." The kits look exactly the same, but it sounds like there is a difference here.

I am happy with the headlights in my QX4, but my 2000 Chevy K3500 needs serious help. I drive it a lot on road trips and I would love to upgrade my lighting system.

It's the 88-98 body style with a 454. It's my baby. I've done a lot of cosmetic and suspension work, and added an air intake and exhaust to make it sound beefy. Argh! Argh! Argh!

Don't want to hijack the thread so I'll stop there.

I'm looking for projectors for my pathfinder as well.

I saw these but not sure if they'll fit even though it says it's for my year.

I tried those - they wont fit. They are actually for a Frontier truck.I've seen them listed as Pathfinder/Fronteir parts, but they definitely don't fit my '01 Pathfinder.

Too bad! They would have looked great.

Anyone else have any idea how to find projectors for a 2001 Pathfinder?

Thanks!

i dont think you really need the projectors. Ill post a thread today hopefully of my HID's......they DO have quite a bit of glare..but...well at least in my qx4...theres this piece directly in front of the bulb which really covers that piercing light. Ive driven behind two friends....in pitch dark roads, and they said they were very bright....but they both said its probably because my colour stands out and seems brighter but its really not that bad. I stare at my lights all the time and they only hurt the eyes when you kneel down and look at them head on (like any other HID) but i have pictures to prove it.....they are the same level as any other suv (cutoff line)

ive driven beside cops, and never had a ticket, nor have i had people flash their brights at me.

i am THINKING of tinting my headlights, it will cut down the glare...and theres more light on the road than i need (even though i love it)

ive had my HID's in over a month and their by far my favourite thing about my q. i absolutely love driving at night now.

I would prefer projectors, and I'm curious where the previous poster acquired his!

They make aftermarket projectors and housings for all the years except the style including the 2001!

Frustrating!

Anyone have anything else to add to this?

I'm still curious where to get projector housings for this body style.

Thanks!

those projectors arent aftermarket, their OEM. In japan the Terrano Regulus (japanese version of qx4) had the oem HID's with projectrs before the 01+ body style.

Some members have tried to get them, but your looking at no less than $1000 to get them shipped here..used.

just suck it up like i did and throw in the HID's.

the headlights on my 02 were H4 bulbs and the fog lights are H3 bulbs, i think they are the same for your year but im not sure

the headlights were a pain in the *** to change, i couldnt take out the rubber seal, brought it to the mechnic, he changed them for me and even he had a hard time , anyone else have a hard time changing them?

H4/H3 is correct for my '01 as well.

I think the headlights are very simple to change, at least on the '01.

Can you post the beam shots of your HID kit?
