I remember we had one member here who has 'retrofitted' a few M assemblies but other than that no one has done this job but I haven't seen him post in a while (he's usually on the facebook group these days). That being said, I believe the lens is 3" (inches) in size. I think the people at TheRetrofitSource.com would know exactly what size you need (their customer service is very good).

As far as how to get to it, you would need to reference the FAQ thread in my signature and find the HowTo on how to paint the headlights...this will explain to you how to open them up and then the lens swap is pretty straight forward after that.
