I just got a set of zinc plated Xdrilled/slotted front rotors for my 94 altima. I couldnt afford the Hawk Pads at the same time, So Im using OEM pads for now. But I noticed that the brakes are noisier now. I dont know if its because Im still using stock pads, or if this is normal for these kinda rotors. It sounds like a gritty noise like the pads are being ripped apart by the rotors.

They are.

The slots will cause the noise, as they shear the pad like a knife edge. No surprises, that is the price we pay.

'Stronger' pads will wear faster.

Also make sure you start with a new set of pads with new rotors. If you reuse older pads the surface will not be flush with the rotor and the slots will grind down the pads to bed in. That may start to tear up the surface of the rotor as well.
