xbox live gamer tag question??

I was wondering if I have to pay for a new plan to have my own user name. let me clarify, I keep using my sons gamertag when i play COD modern warfare but the problem is, his reads "senortaco1996" yeah he gets alot of racist remarks cause of it trust me i've heard some of them. I am clearly not that young but people assume I am. i have to go through the whole speech about it not being my real age. I wanted to set up my own tag but can I use the existing account or do i have to pay seperate for my own??

You can either pay 800 points to change the gamertag to something else. Or you can also just start a new account, the bad thing about this is you will start with 0 gamerpoints.
