it's not console loyalty, it's common sense...but I'll stop there before this thread gets locked up.MinisterofDOOM wrote:Console loyalties baffle me
Well i'd say i'd attribute it to a nostalgia factor. people fondly remember playing on a certain system and because for many of them its the only experience they will have, they consider it the best experience possible. say for instance people that loved nintendo during the ps1/ps2 dominance, why would you like nintendo when ps1/ps2 had a (argueably) better line up of games, i'd argue that they liked nintendo because of the experience they gave them in the past and still hope that they would "return to glory" so to say.MinisterofDOOM wrote:No, no, I don't mean "I wouldn't buy an Xbox because I don't want to risk it dying." That's understandable.
I mean I don't understand console loyalties.I don't understand people who buy a console because of it's BRAND, not it's capabilities, reliability, available games, etc. And I understand even less people who fanatically support or attack consoles based on their brand.
Although I'm sure that is the case for some people, I bought a PSX and PS2 no more than one year after their respective launches and loved them both, but as of now I own a 360 and no PS3.R240sx wrote:

Its like those people with Honda's that scream honda's are the best cars in the world, when they've never driven anything outside of there 93 civic hatchback.
This is the truth for many people myself included, I always had fun with nintendo so I chose nintendo again. I knew at the time that the PS brand was winning but the games and system format (mostly singleplayer) didn't appeal to me as much and the N64 / GC were both setup out of the box for 4 player splitscreen. I had the PS1 / PS2 also but I my best memories were me and 3 friends crammed around a tv playing goldeneye, mariocart, smash bros, and all the mario sport games.R240sx wrote:
