Do you know where those characters are from? Its from the early 80's as a hint.nchopp wrote:

This guys is good at building and modifying game decks.
I don't know if I'd call it fanboy bashing. $500 IS a hell of a lot for a game console... Will I get one? Yes. But it'll certainly be 6 months or so after it comes out, when it's a little closer to reasonable in price.d!ck wrote:real ingenious, except the fanboy sony bashing. i bet i gross less than he brings home/year net (conjecture) and i can easily afford a ps3 without sacrificing the normal luxuries.
The thing that saves the PS3 in my opinion is that many people will also want to own a HD DVD player... The PS3 has a built in BlueRay DVD system.. that would cost you $500 alone... So I am OK with $600 for the system.nchopp wrote:

Except that sony utterly fails on the "winning over the customer" front. Once you spend the money on their console, you get the big f-you. If they treat the PS3 userbase like they have the PSP userbase, they lick my balls. I hate sony--not because of their audacity at their money grubbery this round of consoles, but because of how amazing at making their customers feel like they were a replacable income source rather than a valued asset. Because of that, even if the PS3 had tons of games I want (which, incidentally, is exactly opposite of reality--the PS3 having no games worth owning. Even GTA is no longer PS exclusive) I would have a hard time handing them any more money for anything.Eikon wrote:The thing that saves the PS3 in my opinion is that many people will also want to own a HD DVD player... Still a lot of money.. but it's got the features to back it up. (I hope!... Sony has always been a little bragadocious).
Um...HD DVD is not a better format than blue-ray. It's just cheaper. That is why movie companies prefer it...it's cheaper to produce. Blue ray can hold more data than an HD-DVD, thus it can be higher resolution.MinisterofDOOM wrote:That thing is awesome. Amazing workmanship.

Also, Xbox360 offers an HD-DVD drive for anyone who wants that functionality. And HD-DVD is the better of the two formats--no room for opinion here, pure fact. The movie industry prefers HD-DVD, so which one do you think will become the next Betamax?
You know what the funny part is?Last console round, I was a huge sony fanboy. I hated the Xbox for it's terrible controller (still do) and I hated the Gamecube because I was ignorant (and also for it's horrible controller).
Even after the PSP came out, and the 360 was on the horizon, I was a sony fanboy. I loved my PSP, and I was convinced that the PS3 would blow the 360 out of the water given so much more development time and a perfect peek at exactly what they had to beat.
Of course, all that changed when I saw:A) how sony treated it's customers these daysB) saw how much better the 360 was than I anticipatedC) saw how horrible and utterly lacking of any redeeming qualities the PS3 was
I am not disagreeing with you there, but BR is a better technology than HD...but it comes with a price (not the price of the reader, but the price of production).MinisterofDOOM wrote:I've got several friends who are huge movie collectors. They own players and movies in every format that ever existed, from LaserDisc to Blu-Ray.
They prefer HD-DVD. The format has some huge plusses over Blu-Ray.Alternatively, Blu-Ray is lacking some critical things. I don't recall the details at the moment, but I'll dig them up from our discussions later tonight during some downtime.
The only reason Blu-Ray is more expensive is because it's yet another Sony proprietary technology.
yup, they refused to license it for p0rn.spec-u-later wrote:Beta was better than VHS by far. Sony screwed that one up.
aaand... its gonna happen again. Blue ray is kinda badass but the simple fact remains too many other products have prevalent establishment in the marketplace.spec-u-later wrote:Beta was better than VHS by far. Sony screwed that one up.
