As long as the Crackdown disc is red and you're the first one to initiate the DL Halo 3 Beta Option, it should work.

To my knowledge, there is no way for MS or Bungie to know if Halo3 Beta was ever downloaded using a particular disc. All you should need is to have one of the discs marked with the Halo 3 Beta, a hard drive, and a gold live account to play the beta.

I figured each Crackdown disc's Beta DL Ticket has it's own number, and XBLM will see "Hmm, Ticket #481516 has downloaded already, and now it's trying again? BLOCKED!"

Yes you REALLY need one you can't really do anything with out. BTW you need get an amazing price and a 20GB HDD will run you $100 just go pick one up. Trust me you will be happy you did.
