I am in the market for a rotor upgrade. I've had a set of X-drilled & Slotted rotors on my '02 Celica w/ Hawk brake pads & SS brake lines. My 240sx currently has a brake setup of blanks, Hawk Brake pads, & SS bake lines. I have been meaning to upgrade the rotors for a few months, and recently came across the growing trend of going w/ the Dimpled & Slotted rotors, rather than the usual X-drilled & Slotted.

From what I have found, through research, I have come to the conclusion that the dimples are just another form of slots; and that they are then, more for the initial "bite" during braking, versus the X-drilled being more for ventilation & cooling. What are some of your thoughts/experiences with DIMPLED rotors? Any advantages over the X-drilled, other than it ensuring less likely-hood of cracking & warping, as is the case w/ some X-drilled rotors.

Thanx in advance!

I'm getting PowerSlot rotors myself too.

I have to agree with U, when it comes to the Hawk Pads. I noticed after installing them, braking was sluggish, and not how OEM felt. I'm thinking of getting another set of pads. Any recommendations?

Hmm... I thought Hawk pads are really good, so I was planning on getting them. Searched and looks like you have 3 choices when it comes to ceramic brake pads, Hawk, EBC and Axxis. I also want to know what is good.

I also thought of the EBCs. Axxis, I've heard, releases a lot of brake dust. Guess I shall give the EBCs a try.

I've been searching and found 2 more brands. Project Mu and Carbotech. I want better performance than OEM with less dust. I have white rims on my car. Please someone chime in.

project mu has some great pads, but dust is going to be a problem no matter what preformance brake pads you get

axxis release even more dust than most other performance pads, but not enough that it matters

carbotech makes awesome pads, i just cant remember what the name of their top line street pad is

project mu makes good pads but theyre not worth the price, same thing with endless pads, unless you can get a deal on either that puts them in the same price range as axxis or carbotech or whatever, dont bother

as for the rotors, either get blanks or slotted...

Isn't that Bobcat?

I've found mixed reviews on Axxis and Hawk HPS. I think I'll try Carbotech. Project Mu and Endless pads are expensive.

on a dedicated track car id run carbotech XP series race pads hands down, unless sponsorship or contingency made something else an obvious choice

i think its the bobcats but im not positive, from what i read theyre the street pad, and the ax6 are the street/track, but i cant remember if the ax6 have poor cold performance or if those are the pads you want from them

That's exactly what I'm saying. I've heard nothing but good things about Hawk HPS, but recently saw some negative reviews. Seems like Carbotech, Project Mu and Endless pads have better reviews than Hawk HPS and Axxis. Whatever it is, I'll pick one with good performance with less dust.
