i didnt know the extent of the damage until i figured id change the timing chain since this car is new to me, had a nasty rattle as you increased rpm, but the chain did not slap on cover so that is a good thing.



i dont think it was ever changed. odometer says 150 something. glad i caught it now.....im still in the proccess of dropping the oil pan to retreive the rest of it.

Nice! Tell you the truth I haven't heard of that happening in 240s. I know that the chain slaps the guide though.

its enough to piss me off though, im having a hell of a time getting the pickup tube unbolted since i just have the motor jacked up to get the pan off

how you gonna get the tube back on at the same time you're trying to manuver the pan on.

well now that you bring that up........i dont know, but im sure ill fight with it for hours and the it will magically bolt its self up there, or ill drop the cross member........ill vote for the crossmember bit prob in the long run.

dam, i woulda guessed the t chain was hitting the L bracket thats inbetween the t chain n valve cover, u gonna replace the chain n tentioner now

yeah im replacing all of it. finally got the pan off last night. full of the rest of the guide. but itll all be new in a day or so.
