Is it safe to use Wurth Rubber Care on engine hoses?

I had a slight problem using rubber care before... used it on window seals and windows would stick a little bit. I think it made my driver's side window regulator fail faster (but probably would have broken anyways on it's own -- it's fixed now). Looks like it's pretty powerful stuff in that it makes rubber swell a bit.

I'm mainly concerned about a few fuel hoses I can barely reach which leak a slight gas smell in cold weather (maybe 2 months out of year). Would rubber care soften up the hoses a bit and extend their life?

Just wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences using it in the engine compartment.

Hmmmm. Remember that they deteriorate faster from the inside than the outside...

Don't procrastinate on fuel leaks! Pull the plenum and fix it now before the bad thing happens on the freeway.

Hoses deteriorate from outside too (engine heat). I sprayed a little rubber care on the hoses, so I'll see how it goes... there are no visible leaks. Fuel smell is only on cold starts in very cold weather (gotta remember to keep vent turned off until car warms up), and coolant level has not changed.

Dennis: any ballpark figure for all coolant and fuel hoses + knock sensor and harness at T-3? I'm guessing around $1000?? ('92 Q)

Remember back when we all got a quote for all the hoses alone from Scottsdale [~~~$1,000] for every hose in engine compartment. The KS and harness are $400 plus 6 hours labor [6x70=$420] plus hoses fuel means pulling rail and changing on the bench [1 hour extra] ...........probably less than $1100 unless other hoses break.
