I call shens. I'm not familiar with the G's undercarriage, but I don't think those are even close to the actual jack points. I think its on jacks, with the buckets holding up the suspension, which just happen to cover the stands in pictures. Demand pictures to prove otherwise.

^this man is smart. those buckets are placed waaaaay to far forward to support anything in a good fashion. the picture of the caliper shows it, but if you look at the original picture, you can tell by lookig at the bucket on the passenger side in relation to the dude sitting on the little gardening buggy. which is quite cute, might i add.

:chuckle:
I'd feel safer with the buckets than a jackstand from Harbor Freight. Don't get me wrong, they've got some alright stuff for less, but I'm not trusting them with really important safety equipment.

it's the simpler things like jack stands that you should be using hf for.

And if you take a look at the WARPED blue bucket on the left, the lip of it is up off the ground and the car is supposedly resting on the handle.

Try again guys. ;)

At my house I use 4x6x8's that I cut into 3rds for jack stands. I also use jack stands but two high on the 4x6x2.5 block of wood seems sturdier then some of the jack stands you can buy at the auto parts store.

Those plastic buckets are foolish at best. Glad no one died including the G

My dad used to have a railroad tie that he cut into ramps. Probably weighed 30-40 lbs each and apparently took him quite a while to cut through. But those things were solid.

i'm assuming he meant a wood tie as steel ties would be pretty hard to come by.

waitamin,

maybe they put those buckets under there to hold the calipers up while they work on their brakes... you know, to prevent them from stretching the brake hoses.

instead of using a coat hanger, i'll sometimes use an upside-down bucket to hold the caliper up while pushing the piston in and installing new pads :gotme

but if they were really using them as "safety stands" then um... :inout:

Pretty sure he went through a few blades- it was a while ago, so I'm not sure he even remembers. Those oil soaked wood ties are pretty tough.
