WTH>>> HAPPENED

This morning as my wife is leaving in her 2003 g35 coupe she turns the car on and i hear some wierd noise coming from under the hood we both look at each other like what the hell was that then smoke starts coming out from the driver side ( not sure from were). So I decide t take the car for a spin up and down the block no more smoking but power didn't seem to be there.Finally wife decided to take it but 5 minutes later she calls me and says the car doesn't seem to want to go over 40MPH.So she came back and said car seem to feel like it wanted to turn off Idle was going up and down.Parked car at home and will inspect after work. Any suggestions.Oil change was done about a month ago I dont think it has no oil in it but you never know.

The fact that warranty require you to MAINTAIN oil level means you are responsible for checking it............who would know if you don't except the engine.

That is true but when yo recently had your oil done how could that be the owners fault? I also had just changed all the belts myself.Went off of the nico instructions had no problems installing.

can you describe the noise? Any lights come on in the dash? Sounds a bit like your alternator idle pulley locked up and threw the belt. If it was your alternator belt, there would be a battery and brake light on in your dash.

Came home started car up and let it warm up for a bit, checked oil and no problems.No smoking no noises.Belts are fine.I don't know what it could have happened this morning.Planning on taking car in to Infinity.

Ok. Infinity dealer says that they can't find nothing wrong.They hooked it up to computer and nothing. Now my question is about the light that lights up the letters on the shifter.They are saying you can't replace the bulb you have to replace the whole shifter does that sound right????????

I have an 03 in my bay. i took the shifter bezel off and seen the bulb, it is the same size bulb for the under dash lights and the glove box. there is a yellow condom on the bulb that may have to be transferred to the new bulb. It is very easy to replace. I would recommend attempting to do it yourself

I mean that the Infinity dealer replaced the circle part of the shifter console were the letter light up. He originally told me you could'nt replace the bulbs only.Now i've heard from a couple of guys that you can.Rookie mistake on my part.At the end of the day my extended warranty covered it.
