i put premium fuel in my j30 and later my car started acting really weired... so i asked my sister (who owned the car before me for several years) was was going on. she said that i got bad gas from the station. so i put i fuel invector cleaner in it and put $20 worth or premium fuel in it, it started to act a lil better but still was not accelerating when staping on gas pedal. so i drove that tank of gas down to 1/4 tank and put another fuel injector cleaner in aswell $20 of premium fuel well drove to the store and when i came out to start my car it would start.... well i just changed my fuel filter, spark plugs and did a tune up about a month prior..... CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE
THANK YOU! :wtf2:

Welcome to Nico !! :bigthumb:

First step would to be pulling the codes from the ECU.
There's a sticky in this Forum on how to do that.

The sticky shows how to do it at the ECU.
No cables needed.

What type of spark plugs did you install ??
Also there's a few things that wont cause the check engine light.
Mainly the Knock Sensor.

I understand but there's a MILLION things that can cause this.
MAF , Fuel pump , The list is very long.
When it was running, did it shake at idle ??

If there is still water in your gas you will have to keep taking the fuel filter off, pouring out the water, and reinstalling it. No need to buy a new filter each time, just pour the water out. The same thing happened to my Infiniti G20 and I had to repeat the procedure several times until I got all the water out of the gas tank.

First time out racing our J we had some, no lots of rain get sucked into the airflow meter, car would barely run, sorta like described, for 10 min until it dried, this happened 2 times before we figured it out.
When we returned home we could only duplicate the symptoms by disconnecting the AFM.

Do you have access to a known good one to tryout?

I think that crappy gas you put in caused an injector to go out. Test them.

Also, when you stick in crappy gas, you put in FUEL STABILIZER, not Fuel Cleaner.

The best way for us to help you is too pull the any stored code(s). If a fault occured, it would be stored in the ECU. What your describing can be caused by a number of different things. Pulling the code(s) helps us eliminate those that do not apply to your situation.

If you have no spark to all the plugs then its not a single coil.
If it IS just one cylinder missing then move the suspected coil
to a different cylinder and see if the prob follows.

What are you using for spark plugs?

Make sure you are using OEM. They're NGK platinums.

Sparkplugs that are non NGK platinums are well known for creating all sorts of weird issues in the J30 engine. Ditto for non-OEM alternators.
