From SpaceWeather.com archives, Oct 20: "The best time to look for Orionids is Sunday morning, Oct. 21st, during the hours before sunrise."
From SpaceWeather.com archives, Oct 21: "ORIONID UPDATE: The Orionid meteor shower caused by dust from Halley's Comet peaked this morning, but it was not the bright display hoped for by many sky watchers."
So, even if you'd gone out in the early morning, it doesn't sound like it would have been much to see. But I, too, have enjoyed just being with my wife (and kids) the times we've gone to the mountains to watch meteor showers, although we haven't tried it, yet, in the Versa!
