Please no-one get mad at me, i promise i have searched, searched and searched. My idle is like the exact opposite of what it should be. When cold it idles great (most of the time) around 800 to 1000 rpms, but once warm it idles up to around 1500, but not all the time, its kinda intermittant. Like sometimes when I stop and take it out of gear and let out the clutch it'll idle down to where its supposed to be (i'm happy with 1000), but then when i press the clutch and put it back in gear it goes right back to 1500. I know it has nothing to do with the clutch or transmission because it never grinds synchros or anything, even if I'm shifting at redline. Oh, and I just changed the temp sensor and it doesn't buck as bad when cold, but still the rediculous idle...

What about when you just push in the clutch? If it idles up, then it is the drivetrain resistance, even in neutral, that is causing the engine to idle properly. This sounds like a possible vacuum issue maybe?

sounds like the spring on the TB is worn and not recoiling properly anymore.

a new CA or going up to a KA TB should solve your problem.

Not to thread jack, but bradt, what are you doing over the break? (16th dec - 5th jan). I have met up with Mazikowski, and I'm going to be meeting up with beans33, so how about it, we should meet up sometime and oogle each others cars.

OP, adjust the stop screw on the throttle body (the one that the little throttle cable pulley stops against). It sounds like it is holding the throttle plate slightly open causing a higher idle. I know how it works, I am running no air idle stuff, and have to adjust the TB crack angle for proper idle when the seasons change.

Of course, if you do this, there is the chance your cold idle will suck. Play around with it though, if it doesn't work out you can always adjust it back to where it was. It could also be what gabby said, with the spring being shot, or the TB housing could be all gummed up, not allowing the plate to close properly.

I will be at the house. I live in North Huntsville. I pretty much work from 7-4 everyday so I'm available in the evenings. Hopefully my car will shed its electrical gremlins in time.

r34, what do you have to do to delete the little idle control crap, can you just remove and and block the openings or do you have to tune the ecu to run without it, because i can deal with having to warm it up in the mornings (hell i have to do it anyway with the stuff on there). I mean do you take that whole little cluster off or just the iacv?

Its not too bad, but lets wait until one of us actually makes some power with it before everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Ask me in a month, if all goes to plan. Ive got to rebuild the bottom end before I go and try tuning anything.

I won't guarantee anything, but we will certainly give it a try! Ive got to tear mine apart to fix that oil pump though, so I won't be able to make multiple trips this break.

In all honesty I can probably do it myself in an afternoon, while sleeping. Ive done this so many times. This is #4 for those who care, and #2 for 2008.

OP, any new developments? Gotten the problem squared away yet?

just a jab, chap. Gimme a call if you wanna stop by the house anytime to hang. Or go out driving when my car is fixed.

OP, are you alive?

Sorry it took me so long to post back. I did kindof get the idle solved, its pretty good now, between about 800 to 1100 when warm, which beats the crap out of 1500 lol. I blocked off the hose to the idle crap and blocked the tb slightly open and that pretty well solved it. I do have to feather it for a while to warm it up but i'm fine with that, still just pondering on the other gremlin now, the F-ING OIL LEAK! I guess i'm just gonna have to live with a coated driveway and underbody lol. I guess the bright side is I always have fresh oil in my engine lol since the f-er changes its own oil about once to twice a month (quart or two a week). Thanks for all the suggestions, you guys always have awesome info and know-how.
