After having so many clutch problems I have a rebuilt trany for my s13. I have only a header, ECU upgrade, Air intake & Exhaust. I have a bad back and want a performance clutch feel with a pretty close to stock pedal feel.

I wanted to buy a LUK Pro Gold but of course with my luck they do not make them for the 240 anymore.

I posted a link asking what people thought about RPS because I found a Sport Clutch they have with 15% clamping and max torque 220. The owner said it would be perfect for me.

Well I got it today & it did not include the TOB, Pilot and the tool and it looks used and says Exedy on the PP and disk. The springs on the disk have a painted white that looks like it is coming off. I called RPS and they said to talk to the seller (TOM - Carolina Clutch) I will call him in the AM.

What is the deal, is this just an Exedy OEM painted black & has a RPS logo on it. I could do that and have my own clutch company.

I am not crazy for thinking this is BS and also the PP looks used!

Please check out these pics and tell me your thoughts ALSO - DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A SPORT CLUTCH THAT HAS A OEM PEDAL 7 CAN HANDLE MY LIGHT MODS AND WILL LET ME DO A BURNOUT & CATCH 2ND EVERY NOW AND THEN?

Spec stage three is an incredible clutch, even for a daily driver. I love the pedal feel and the engagement on mine, feels a little stiffer than stock. Holds 350+ tq. But i hate driving spongy clutches, so i might be a little biased.

Well from what Tom at Carolina said is RPS uses an Exedy PP & Disk and they beef up the internals to make it have more clamping hold, ETC.

I hope it is OK. I had an Exedy Stage 1 and the pedal felt like a manual clutch from a Boss 409 Mustang from the 70's. VERY STIFF - harder then my ACT EXtreme.

I discovered my trans had a bad input shaft & that might have been the problem with the Exedy stiff feel. It only lasted 200 miles (LOL). Well it really is not funny, all the $$$ I spent on clutches.

With my BAD LUCK I bet I got screwed on this.

THANKS

did you resurface the flywheel before you installed the new clutch?

I did on the Exedy that did not last. I do not think it would release properly.I do intend to resurface it again before I put in the New RPS. It does look OK it only had 200 miles on the Exedy but I better do it anyway.

Thanks
