I got a 1993 240sx hatch, and 2 nights ago my rear wiper was working fine, i pushed the button to turn it on, and it worked, and i pushed the button again and it shut off!! Now, last night, it was raining and i was sitting in my driveway and i turned my rear wiper on with the button. Then i pushed the button again to disengage the rear wiper, and the wiper would not stop!!!  It stayed on even though i hit the botton and the button did disengage, and it came out more! Like when you turn the wiper on the button sits in a little then when you push it again, it comes back out! So the only way i could get my rear wiper to stop was to shut my car off! But wherever my rear wiper was when i turned the engine off, it stayed stuck there, and in the way of sight from the mirror! So i timed it good and got it to stay where its suppose to sit! Then i turned the car on again and i didnt turn the rear wiper on, but i hit the button above it... (which is to spray water on the rear glass button) and that caused the wiper to turn on, and it wouldnt stop again, so then i had to time it right again to get it to stay where its suppose to sit! This is making me crazy!! :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:    Please help!

My thought would be a poor connection, either at the switch or the wiper motor. Probably brought on by the extra moisture. Try cleaning the connectors at the switch and motor with connector cleaner. Use a little dielectric grease when you clip them back together to seal out the moisture. If the problem is still there I would suspect the switch may need its internal contacts cleaned, or even replaced. If you have a volt meter you could just check the continuity of the switch, that would be the best way to tell. If you end up needing a switch I probably have one laying around.

I use a Snap On trim puller/ clip remover tool. It makes removing them a lot easier. As far as the front switch, you are better off removing the cluster trim to get at it from the back. Its possible to remove it from the front, but scratches and broken switch are very likely. It only takes a little longer to do it the right way. And make sure you test it before you reassemble everything. Nothing sucks more than putting something together just to take it apart again.

Dude, it's not that bad. I had a wiper on my old hatch trunk. I even removed it before I got a new hatch that didn't have holes at all. It's just for convenience. It's not a necessity.

you dont need a read wiper, the wipers on the hatch dont work worth a s*** anyway. this is all you do, wipe the hatch glass down with rainex, water beads up and runs off, no big deal. its decent visibility in anything other then thunderstorm down pour kinda rain.

I like the look of a rear wiper... and it is nice to clear off standing water/dirt.

But comon man.
You have to get out there and tear stuff apart. if you dont youl never learn anything/ get it fixed.

Those clips are like a doller at any parts store. break them till the panels off.
Check that switch too. its only a couple 10mm bolts and some screws to get to it.
Untill you do those things theres no way anyone can help you.

I shaved mine, But now regret it. Its annoying in snow when you dont have one. even with the defrost on.
