got half way through and was about to smack you for not going to a mechanic lol, but ya, that sounds like something a bit beyond the majority of the people on this forum to diagnose =/

sounds like the ecu is in that illusive limp to dealership mode so what ever it is, it could be bad sound bad. Or it could be you forgot to tighten the gas cap :sigh technology these days

Bro, i got my altima coue in aug 2007 around oct 2008 i started having the same problem.

Stepon the gas and the car hardly moves ( rpm stuck at 2, even flooring it), then all of a sudden rpm shots up, tires spin out and car takes off. Aslo while trying to cruise the rpm would be going up and down constantly.

Good news is that i got a free transmission out of it. Iam in good with a service tech down here and he had it replaced.

Bad news is that the problem comes back now and then, when ever it wants to. Kind of a weird problem let me know what they think. I am also with the ecu being the problem.

The same thing happened to me two days ago. I had it idleing while I put air in the tires. and then I put it in reverse and it cut off to just on mode. Then i put it in park and it turns back on. Whenever I tried to accelerate past 2,000 rpms it would shake violently and not accelerate.

I dropped it off at the dealer that night, the next day they say they can't find any thing wrong with it.

I think there may have been water in my gas tank and it may have froze as cold as it was two days ago 17 degrees F.

Thats the last time I buy gas from sheetz

This happen to me in another car several years ago when the air filter got clogged with something. Not sure if that's the problem since many of you are having the same problem...

well i my hose clamp on my aribox to the intake was broken and had came off while driving. i went to nissan to have them to look at it and sat there a hour and they never got around to it. so it was 5 and the techs leave at 5 so they were gonna give me a free rental but im 19 so i couldnt cause allstate was closed and i couldnt call and get the info i need since im underage. so i went back to nissan and was standing there my car wasent checked out so i decided to look again. i had looked over it twice before and the intake hose was on the airbox. i guess it came on off on the way to nissan. so i got a guy to clear the code and now its fine...sorry guys guess i didnt solve your problems or figure anything out i should have done more that look lol i know this from my bros supra when i was checking for leaks on his intercooler pipes

If water froze in your tank, you'd have a lot different problems than what you're talking about...
