You may want to put coolant in there along with the hose connected to the thermo housing with the thermo inside and bolted to the front cover. How did it sound when it was running? Check your fuses, make sure you're getting fuel and spark. Also, did you torque everything down to spec? If not, your cam sprocket bolt can become loose. Also, did you put the timing chain back on appropriately? If not, you may have killed your engine (at least the valves). Always hand crank the motor first to see if there is any sort of resistance from pistons and valves hitting each other.
