wtf is wrong with my car??

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

ok, i had to replace the head gasket, got it all taken apart and put back together. only things that are not on the car is the thermostat or its housing, coolant, or the fan. the EGR valve also isnt connected. it turned over when i first tryed, stayed on for about 20 seconds and died. i couldnt get it started after that. Any ideas?

Allways start with the basics- Fuel/spark/timing/if still nothing check for codes from the ecu...Keep me informed with what you find out and ill try to help you out.

brand new spark plugs, injectors connected right, fuel lines all on right. timing was put back on right. im gonna check the ECU tonight

You may want to put coolant in there along with the hose connected to the thermo housing with the thermo inside and bolted to the front cover. How did it sound when it was running? Check your fuses, make sure you're getting fuel and spark. Also, did you torque everything down to spec? If not, your cam sprocket bolt can become loose. Also, did you put the timing chain back on appropriately? If not, you may have killed your engine (at least the valves). Always hand crank the motor first to see if there is any sort of resistance from pistons and valves hitting each other.

ok, so i found out what was wrong with the car. the cruise control is stuck at a certain speed. so when the car turns on, it runs straight up to 4000 rpms and sits there. i think thats why the car wasnt starting, the butteryfly in the throttle body was too open. now all i need is new head bolts because the old ones are stretched
