Yes, I know what it goes to. But I don't know why there is a random ground wire going to nothing on the harness.moso wrote:here is what a knock sensor should look like
it has a plug on one end and a large washer looking sensor on the other end that bolts to the block below the head between the seccond and third cylinders underneath the intake manifold. yours has been cut and not repaired and the sensor on the end is gone.
So the knock sensor has 1 wire? Why are there 2 pins on the actual sensor itself if only 1 wire goes into it?1KleenS13 wrote:The connector end on the right looks like its from a fuel injector??? Normally a knock sensor has one wire. The previous owner may have tried to rig something together at one point in time. Even though is looks like that it still may work, but its definatly a "hack" job. I would try to make a new harness for it.
Yeah, I already did sort of a splice job. The FSM diagram makes no sense to me at all. That metal wire loom looks to me like just un-sheathed wire. I don't understand what it could possibly be for. If those things weren't such a PITA to remover I could pick one up from the junk yard.moso wrote:well i cant tell you what that ground goes to its not on mine. and i cant tell you how many wires its supposed to have in it because i havent opened it up. but i can tell you that yours is fubar and needs replaced i suggest the J/Y or possibly the partout forums. maybe courtesy nissan parts online but i think it would be expensive there. alternatively you could try to splice / solder yours back togeather i would use the fsm schematics for the wire diagram but it looks like yours is quite hacked up. i also just noticed that the ground wire goes to some kind of metal wire loom on yours. maybe for radio interferience supression?
