yesterday ,i got out of work and i felt a lil tired so i just wanted to get home and i saw environmental police F150 driving on fast lane so i decided to pass and was doing 80 on 55 ,honestly i didnt think that e-cop wasnt a real cop coz i thought that they r more like when u pee in public ,they can bust ur a** or when u dump ur s*** on road ,they can give u ticket long story short ,he pulled me over and he gave me ticket but no scanner paper thois there any way ,i can claim for that ticket ?also he wrote 120 $ and estimated only so i dont think he got scanner in his car,but how do i know what he had rite?my prob is i have got no time to go to court so should i pay and forget about it?any point on my license ?my friend who got tons of tickets said its fine ,u can have 3 ticket in a mth, idk is he right?if my insurance goes up,what should i do ?p.s this is my first ticket in my whole driving life /appreciate for any answers and ideas

You can fight that, a friend of mine got a similar ticket. He wrote 55 on a 30 but he never had a scanner. He said " I can tell by the way you are driving" and she got off but she paid $175. I'd rather pay that then points. She got in one of the strictest towns on Long Island, Long Beach. Long Beach cops are pain in the asses, so are Garden City.

A cop is a cop is a cop.

Not to be mean, but that wasn't very smart of you to PASS A COP, doing 25 mph OVER.... geez man.... isn't that like an automatic arrest? You're damn lucky he didn't have a radar gun on him...Even if he was speeding and was an "e-cop." I think you saw that one coming, but somehow your tired brain failed to realize what you were doing.

I don't care if the cop speeds past at 70 mph in a 60 zone. You bet your 20" rims I'll be on the slower lane doing 60 mph on cruise control. Ain't no reason to risk messing with that crap. What will I tell him, "Hey you were doing 70 so why should I get a ticket for following your lead?" BAM Double screwed, one for speeding, another for smart mouthing him. But that's just what my luck would be. So yah. I never screw around even if I THINK a damn Crown Vic behind me might be a cop's.

lol i got a speeding ticket and they said that they take classes to be able to tell how fast you are going without even using a radar gun and they need to be within 3 MPH of it or something. so the judge just counted it as if he had me with a scanner and the judge didnt want to listen to anything.

I would fight it and if all else fails just pay the ticket, $120 isn't much at all.I have had three speeding tickets (two of them I could have fought and won but I didn't have the money to pay for them so my parents fronted and didn't want me to fight )

Anyways they were rounding $300 so 120 is a steal compared to mine.

I'm curious, (yet again) don't they allow you to take like deferred adjudication or probation for like 60 days or something? That way you pay the fine and assuming you don't F up again you don't get points on your license. Either that or pay a fine and take some online defensive driving course for $20-40 and turn the certificate in, and also a copy to your insurance so you get $10 off your monthly insurance payment. All these options are better than just paying the fine and getting it on the record, which I believe I HAD to do last year when I got 2 tickets back to back (could only take defensive driving as option for ONE ticket a year...).
