Hello I really need your help! I drove my z for a long ride for the first time since I had it to my home town. I drove it as fast as 90mph to get to church parked it came out it was still running fine. When I got to my grandmas house I spun up the dirt in the dirt rouund too major and I went the yard to park and revved the motor a few times and it was running fine. I turned it off and went in the house. I came back out about an hour later and that's when found out the bull****! My z is sick! I cranked her and started hearing noises coming from the motor like a blender grinding up peacans. That is the best I describe the noise. I pressed the gas the noise got louder and then it cut off. I cranked it back up and put the car in reverse and the car would not pick up any speed. I tried putting it in 1st gear and drove down the road but the top speed was only 3mph I could achieve. I got down the road went to turn around after several times of the car cutting off and realized that the car was going to the hot side. I got the car back to my grandma house opened to radiator and it is full of antifreeze. I let the car cool and tried it again and it still doing the same thing. I noticed the oil pressure was low too. Please help me! I was told that it might be the timiing jumped on her but not sure. Please help!

I have a n/a in a 5spd. I have not done anything to the car just changed the oil since I have had the car. I have not put over 1000 mile since I have bought it. The idle is not good. It acts like it want to shut off when I crank it. If I put it in gear and press on the gas then let the idle it will idle up and then go down to cutting off. As I listen to it the noise sounds like it is coming from the front where the timing but I am not sure.

I do not know honestly. I have had the car for only 45 days just put the tags on the car. I did not check the timing on it. I will look at that when I get back to the car in few days. The car is about 2hrs from where I live.

183k on the clock when was the last timng belt put on? if you don't know plan on spending $500 for the parts to do the job and if you have to have it done double that figure

back to problem solving, check the timing, check idle vacume, if your timing is off or you have little to no vacume, do a compression test, you might have sheared a tooth off the timing belt and taht could have damaged some valves

Im in the same boat as you man, i got a 1990 all stock, just rolled into 160k, i'm about 95% sure its collapsed lifters. and basically your best bet is going to be to replace the motor, ive talked to a few people here in oklahoma and the few that would do that kind of internal engin work(on mine atleast) are gonna charge you hella for labor+parts every shop that ive talked to told me $1,100+ for just labor.Wish ya luck i know i cant afford to fix mine for a while but still do a comp test and track it down.~kevin

It could also be your rod bearings. I say that because you said it sounds like a grinding noise, and your oil pressure is really low. The bearings really are the achilles heel of the VG30 engine.

Your best bet would be to get a new engine.
