i installed an maf adapter with a cone filter. i finished installing and i turn the car on. the engine starts sputtering and going into lower rpms and then it goes off...wth?!?! whats wrong? someone help. i also noticed that the maf adapter had holes premade in the wrong place so the holes exposed some little parts of the inside of the maf. i ask again..whats wrong?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!? thanks in advance

those premade holes are probably your problem, the MAFS is monitoring the air and as the air passes through the sensor, those holes are letting the air back out, but i don't know.. that's my opinion, i have the same as you, MAF adaptor and cone filter and everything's ok

Where did you get the MAF adapter from??? I asked because why wouldnt you get one premade for 240's. Anyway yeah those holes are your problem. I put a breather filter on my AIV thing but my friend didnt. He just put a piece of tissue or some **** over it. I forget but both worked fine so I guess it doesnt matter

i got it off of ebay.

good news! after all this time lol. i found the problem. i noticed that it is square shaped on the inside (where the air goes in) of the adapter. the maf, because of the constraint the adapter is making, can't sense the air coming into the intake. so i just used a file to bore out the inside of the adapter.

What the hell? This whole thing sounds like crap. Square adaptor? Extra holes? My friend you did not get a 240 filter adaptor. You got a cheap crappy worthless stupid ugly useless ebay imitation that should be shoved down the throat of the person who sold it to you. EXCEPT you have altered it now...sighYou should have saved the money for the full intake conversion instead of trying to get performance out of ebay junk.

Its not that i mean to yell at you, but too many people get bitten by this bug and i feel someone ought to answer for these crimes. I would at least complain to them or something (or mail them a pig's heart and a bag of dog sh*t).

it was square? Don't you mean the square part lines up onto the maf, and the part that protrudes outwards (cylindrical) is where the cone filter fits on? I've heard of people buying those only to find that 3 holes will line up, the 4th needs a bit of a redrilling. might want to have a look at that.

yeah i should've saved 10 bucks to get a full intake conversion. you're right it is crappy, but ohh well i got what i payed for. at least in the end i got it to work..so it's all good. and i also put a negative comment on that person's ebay rate thing so it's all good.

yah its a ghetto *** adapter, my s13 came with ebay adapter and filter, theres xtra holes cuz i guess its just a universal adapter, looked ugly and prolly didn't even werk well being that only 2 bolts hold in the adapter so i just took it off and put on the stock airbox.
