Is it possible I have a cracked head? And if there is oil in the coolant..wouldnt thier be water in the oil since the water is thinner???? Thanks a ton for your help.
I meant to do it once you reassembled the engine after repairs. If it was simply a cracked head it would be more likely to have a crossover of water to oil as well.although it is possible depending on how big the crack is. the reason you are not seeing coolant in the oil is because the coolant pressure isnt high enough to push the coolant through the pours. but since oil pressure is much higher then coolant pressure it is able to push it through the pours. your radiator cap pops off around 12psi which allows coolant to pass through to the over flow bottle. your oil pressure on the other hand can get pretty high once that oil gets up to operating temp it is much thinner and your pressure is in the neighborhood of 60psi on accel . I have seen a 97 maxima with out any drivability problems push 100psi on cold start up with a oil pressure gauge hooked to the sender port. this was as an example in tech school.

that indicates a lack of coolant in the heater core(air pocket) this is probably due to the coolant was becoming contaminated and was slowly being lost through the over flow.
