90 s13, got a code 13 on the ecu self diagnostic, (temperature sensor). so i pulled the connector & it was really corroded, cleaned it off . then started the car & put an ohm meter on the 2 connectors on the sensor & it read 1085 ohms. the post i read said it was supposed to be 3 ohms cold & as the engine warmed up it should read .33 ohms. did i check the wrong temp sensor?? it is the red connector that has the same type of connector as an injector right??? & to check it you put the 2 wires from the ohm meter on 1 of each of the 2 prongs on the sensor right???? & yes the ohm meter is working correctly or does that ridiculous reading mean the sensor is bad & im just retarded (i have no idea what a bad reading would be....) ANY INPUT WOULD HELP!

well if the ecu says something is wrong with that sensor and your resistance check says something is wrong, i'd say the sensor is bad :P

The voltage across the coolant temp sensor changes with coolant temperature. If someone stated that it should be 3 they were referring to 3 kohms or 3,000 ohms at a particular temperature. The graph for the resistance across the sensor should be in the fsm. The .33 is referring to 330 ohms. The biggest problems I've had with nissan coolant temp sensors is corrosion on the pins. So you will get a good reading when you check the sensor, but the ecu won't see the right value because of the corroded pins.

oops, yeah im retarded & i didnt see the little K in front of the OHMS... the sensor its self cleaned up nice w/ electrical contact cleaner but inside the plug was a pain to clean. i sprayed it & tried to scratch it out w/ a needle. any better way to clean out the green crud from inside?
