I am chasing the wireing diagram from under the cluster and combination switch area, I have recently brought a Datsun 720 Ute and looks like the previous ownder did something dumb with the wiring, the combonation swtitch is constant on and I can't seem to turn the light down from high beam.

So I am chasing the wiring diagram from the combo switch and ignitiaon area.

What year is your 720. Mine is an 85 and has an alternator with built in regulator. As a result there is no combination meter, however I have a similar problem with the the high/low beam. In mine it goes to high beam for itself and a little shake of the light switch it goes back to low beam. I do not have a scanner to post the wiring diagram. Sorry.

Just recently fixed this problem, the contacts are dirty and need to be cleaned.

You need to remove the steering wheel covers and remove the wiring connector to the combination switch. You will see the pins on the comb. meter, they are surrounded by a housing that holds the pins in, you need to remove this part. They are held in by two small phillips screws. Carefully unscrew them as time may have made the housing brittle.

Use a scotch brite pad and rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts.

The previous owner switched the ground around.

The only time the "brights" indicator light is illuminated is when it is grounded.

Is the combination switch suppose to have power to it all the time?

I didn't think that this was to occur. I can have the key out of the barrel and still be able to turn the wipers on and put the blinkers on.

But does anyone have the wiring Diagram for the Ignition?

Mine has power to it all the time. Don't have a scanner so I can't post the diagram.

Well I have confirmed that the Comdination Switch is rooted... So getting another on for it next week $80 fo some reason the previous owner cut about 4 wires red and yellow.

I am thinking that is why I have no parker or cluster lights.

I don't have a scanner. I found wiring diagrams at autozone.com. If you register you have access to their repair info, which includes wiring diagrams.

I need to get into the back of my dash and steering wheel fairly soon, I will write down the colors since I've found they do NOT match the Haynes Manual very well.
