doing a quickie build on my vg30e shortbolck and want a little more compression to go with my soon-to-be-ported heads and big cams.e-mail [email protected] you thought those old parts laying around were worthless.

What kind of compression ratio are you aiming for? The combustion chambers of the VG30E are actually a little bigger compared to the DE so the DE and TT pistons will have a lower compression ratio in the VG-E.

I know the VG30E pistons are flat top but from what I understand the DE pistons do have a little bit of a dome so you'll have a slight increase but likely not enough to go over 9.5:1. You should see a little bit of a gain there.

The most important part though... you definitely need to make sure the valves will clear. The DE pistons have 4 valve reliefs while the E has 2 so you'll have to make sure they don't hit the pistons, especially since you're going with a cam upgrade.

Just a heads up!

If you want to go a little further, you can actually pick up a VG33E and put Q45 pistons in. It'll require a bore putting it to roughly 3.4 liters but it'll make about a 250 hp VG.

this is the interim short block. i'm splitting up the time and money required to do the heads for about a grand and the 3.3L block- close to or over 2k w/ JE and eagle rods. mainly i really want to start using the heads. the pistons supposedly do not hit, but then that is with a stock cam. just looking for a slight bump when i pull the engine out to fix some other issues and put the new heads on. cheap would be nice.

Ahh, cool. What is all of it going in?

As for the pistons and such, I'd try the WTB forum: zeroforum?id=202

Good luck!

Never mind, looks like you've already got it there.
