WTB: Used Auto Transmission

I am mainly looking for advice on the best way to buy a used transmission for my 1998 QX4. Apparently most junkyards drain the transmission and clean it so its hard to tell if there is previous damage. So what do yall suggest... what are some things to look for? I want to spend as little money as possible while not getting a piece of junk since I am going to sell the car after its fixed.

And just in case if anyone has an auto transmission laying around or know where to get one please let me know!

i just had a junkyard transmission installed. it drives smooth. it has a 90 days warranty. im driving it extra hard right now (its been about 60 days so far) to see if it fails but so far its perfect
