Man, when I had my B13 SE-R, I was looking all over for one of those. Now I just use a cassette adapter + MP3 player.

Man! Major disappointment! I finally located a brand new Nissan CD player for my 1992 convertible to pair up with my Clarion am/fm cassette and when I opened it, the plugins don't match at all. It says PV-705 just like in the pic above but it doesn't mate up at all with my unit that is factory. . Does anybody have a close up pic of their factory CD player and can you supply me with the model # and part #? I believe it is supposed to be SONY. Thanks a heap!! This has really been frustrating!

There was a guy on eBay about a year ago that was selling a conversion harness to upgrade from the old harness plug that the radios used to use to the newer harness plug...think it might even be a Nissan item. I got a newer version Nissan CD player and to go below it I got a Nissan indash 5 CD changer...they really work great. I think I paid $20 for the harness, $60 for the CD player and $85 for the changer. I'll try and take some pics if I can get my girlfriends digi cam.

sxxy1992,Sorry to hear that. There are many different variations, so you have to be really careful when you buy add-on/piggy back cd players. Many of them look same, but sometimes back panel is different. I know for sure that these cd players work with stock vert radio. They are plug and play.

B8182-C9964 (6 in dash CD changer)B8182-89920 (Single CD Player)

Like wmdavis007 said, there's an adaptor and you should try to get that one and see if it works. It should work with adaptor, but I can't guarantee. Whatever you do, don't mess with factory plugs and wires. Leave them intact and source the right parts.

wmdavis007,Is yours 6 or 5 cd changer? I know there's a 6 cd changer available for our vert, but never heard of 5 cd changers.

P.S.: Most of the time, you can't return or get a refund for car stereos.

Now that you say that...think it is a 6 disk in-dash changer.

What you have must be B8182-C9964. Was it used? Because it's like $500 from the dealership. I'm not sure if it's still available or not though. So you have single din cd player w/radio and a 6-cd changer underneath it? Man... never seen that setup before. Usually you have cassette player w/radio and add a cd player underneath it.

I have a cd player too, but hardly use it. I might get rid of it to raise money for suspension parts. But before that I need to find an OEM pocket that will fill up the space.

by this time I am of a mind that there may indeed be more than one stock design for am/fm cassette for maybe different years of the vert. Mine is 1992 and looks exactly as in the picture in my owner's manual. So that is why I believe I have the stock unit. It has been very frustrating to say the least. Some have recommended getting an aftermarket model but then that is what you end up with; an aftermarket model. I am after factory look as well as performance. Have to remember this is a convertible and to expect Opera House performance and sound quality is be wishing on a star. I bought this car for the same reason. I could have gotten something else and made do with it if it was all about budget and convenience. So, I will keep looking until I find that elusive "plug and play" cd unit for my cassette am/fm. thanks for all the help along the way.

I almost miss those days....I just use an FM transmitter now, and it's decent enough I guess. Really been considering getting a mini jack installed, though.

I've used both, and the tape (or mini jack) sounds much better and you don't have to worry about reception problems.

For those of you discussing stock stereo decks, I think there are 4 different versions used by Nissan in the early 90's with the variables being unamplified vs. amplified and "small" connector for the CD player vs. "large" connector for the CD player.

ok, we are getting closer to resolving the issue concerning a cd deck that should be plug and play but doesn't appear to have the correct wiring, etc. So far, it is "almost" plug and play......Upon closer examination, I have found that Nissan included a wiring harness with the new unit for some reason and the booklet states you plug your car's harness into it and then it into the cd and radio unit. Turns out I don't need that harness that they include. My factory harness has the extra 2 plugs I need to go in the back of the cd unit. Only bugaboo left is that the black cord on back of cd has 7-pin male end and my radio/cassette unit has 5-pin female receiver. So, sounds like I need to have a 5-pin to 7-pin adapter so I can plug it in and then it might work. Guess that cord is what sends signals to the radio. So, seems to be a difference in 1992 versus 1993 as far as the number of pins on the radio. Unfortunately I can't honestly say I have the original unit my car came with. I am the 2nd owner. It looks identical on the face to the owner's manual but somebody else owned it for the first 14 years. So, at least part of the mystery is being cleared up. (Noticed my radio had a small magenta-colored 'best buy' tag on the side of it so maybe the original owner sent it in to them for repair sometime thru the years. Who knows.............

Yeah...thats what I have. Nissan single DIN CD with AM/FM and a Nissan changer under that. I did it because I like to keep some CD's in the changer all the time and it's nice to have the single for changing out CD's that I only like a few songs on or for when friends that ride along that bring CD's. I'll try and take some pics of both units along with my harness pig-tail that let me upgrade to the newer factory radios.

Okay, here's my setup. Electrical tape was going bad on the lines, so I pulled these out to clean up the wiring. Lines were sticky and all tangled up, so I just cleaned them up good.

This is my stock am/fm cassette player.

Here's the back of am/fm cassette player.

This is in-dash 6 cd changer that I have and wmdavis should have same one.

Back shot. It's basically same as above single cd player, but on this one female plug is on the outside as you can see.

Top the cd changer.

These will give you some idea on what to get.

I don't think sxxy1992 is checking this thread. Anyway, found this adpator in my garage. It came with 6 cd changer. This is for the newer car. You will need the exact opposite of this. Try eBay. You might be able to find one there.

Yes, I'm checking the thread. Working nights recently. Am looking at all the great pictures also. Thanks. Lot of information. That adapter in the last pic is exactly what they sent with the PV-705. That's probbly where you got it. Hopefully getting a line on what I'm looking for today. Still got to figure how to get pics up also. Used to know how and it worked when I started on here. Now it doesn't want to do it for me. Got my work partner on here now also. Welcome "93 ragtop", y'all.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of flashy aftermarket stereos. Stock stereo blends in pretty good with the interior. I like it that way. Have you seen real jdm stereo with volume knob on the other side? They pop up on eBay from time to time.

That's it. That's the changer I have...but I have a newer AM/FM CD head unit. Maybe I'll get to the shop this weekend and I'll try to take some pics.

ok, it's 4th down and I have at least one option left. I have decided to live with this single cd (same one you have 94_240sx) player. but I now need to concentrate on finding a 7-pin male to 5-pin female adapter. Anybody have any suggestions as to where? The unit hooks up and runs and seems to operate but of course can't hear anything because the plug won't go in the back just yet.......[IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [/IMG]
