1.) So it can get all greasy and illegible? I don't think so.
2.) Even at 10¢/page for inkjet printers, much cheaper. Laser printers are cheaper still. And one can adjust the size of the diagrams. The later FSM seem to be digitally generated and are of much better fidelity.
