My engine has been torn down for about a week now(block is getting dropped off at the machine shop monday), my stock bores/pistons look fine - but I would rather take this chance to put something better in. So if anyone has some good condition forged pistons kicking around (used, or new - stock, or oversize) for a good price - hit me up, I have cash in hand! I am also interested in getting a hold of a good condition 4 port head, intake, and fuel rail for this build. I already had my 8 port head re-done with nissan seals at the machine shop, and resurfaced for the cometic headgasket... so I might be willing to trade that for/towards a good condition 4 port head if someone is interested - otherwise, I will just use the 8 port. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you have!

4 port head is definately not worth it. if i had something to go off of i could make your a plenum though. stock sized tb or q45.

ok - 4port scratched off the list... I knew a few people on here were going to do some dyno tests between the two heads, but I dont recall seeing results ever posted. Aparently it isnt worth it - so Ill take the word of two ca knowledgeable people on that. Still looking to find some pistons though. preferably before monday(when im picking up my head, and dropping my block off at the machine shop), if not then I will just re-use the stockers. and ch187 I might be interested in the custom plenum for a q45 tb, Hit me up with some details on that!

IDK if it's not worth it. I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Maybe after I get my engine running again, if I get curious I will do a back to back dyno to end the 4port vs 8port mystery.

Got any proof? I don't think anybody has any concrete proof as to which is better, so when you say it isn't worth it makes me want to know why. Not busting your balls just curious.

Chris859 - If you ever want a 4 port you can send me an email to [email protected] but there will be some ground rules first (this is due to people requesting 4 port heads, but just ended up wasting my time).

any proof of what? my personal opinion? sure. its not worth it. you are going to spend buttloads of cash on something that probably will gain what? exactly. im sorry id rather spend $2000+ on something that will make me a little more power. so yeah its not worth it.

2000+ plus for a head I wish I was getting that kind of money for these things I would have quit my job. I have sold a few in the range of 300-400 shipped.

i was more or less talking about a fully built head. im well aware of how much 4 port heads go for. woopty. if i went 4 port i would build the entire head just because. as soon as someone shows me where doing just a 4 port head swap will yield enough horsepower to justify $3-400, then i will totally agree with you. im completely fine with my 8 ports.

I would guess the difference is minimal. If i was sitting on a jacked up 8 port and needed a new head I would go 4 port but other than that it seems needless. My motor as peaky as it will likely be would probably like it.

lots of older posts on sxoc with direct 4 vs 8 port comparisons, same car/same combo. No need to guess, ask them.I have both & hope to do such a comparison myself.
