First off, moderators, if feel this thread isn't in the right forum, I understand if you move it to the buy/sell/trade forum. Anyway, like the subject says, I'm looking for a dropping resistor for a ca18det. I've been reading that I can also use a DSM 1gen. dropping resistor. If anyone has either for sale, please reply and/or email me ASAP! Please... :( Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I have a spare DSM one lying around.......

Send me an e-mail to [email protected] if interested....... not sure what they're worth.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, so I will likely need to ship.

LMK

Thanks

Do you know if the DSM ones will fit?

I'm not sure if it will work...... that's what I bought it for, but I have since sourced a real CA one.

It should work but you'll have to splice the wiring.

So, I take it the harness isn't plug and play? There's like two of them on ebay at this time.

Not plug and play, but simple. Figure the common wire amongst them, hook that to the common wire on the harness, then pick any of the others to match the otheres (they don't have an order or anything that really matters).. or so it should be. I haven't tested this yet, I need to get a resistor myself

Oh okay. So I'd have to cut the harness that leads to the ecu and splice the resistor's wires onto the wires leading to the ecu? Does that look right? (Probably not :( )

Sent you an e-mail.

I looked at both resistors (and sent you pics), and both use a common white wire, and then 4 black wires (1 to each injector). Both use the same style male spade connecteor, so you could just pop the wires out of the harness connector, and plug them individually directly into your engine harness.

$30 plus shipping?

LMK

Thanks

Didn't it work?

Did you put the wires in the correct places?

Thanks

Haven't gotten around that yet :D. Sometimes I just get so frustrated with this swap process that I'm just trying to get the correct parts. F#*< it, though. I'll work on Monday during the day and see how that works. Were you able to get the coil pack, btw? How's your swap going so far? :)

Haven't gotten the coils yet, but that's alright....... my motor blew up yesterday.

I had it started and there was a nice knock. I revved it up to see if wasn't just a dry lifter and then bang, dead stop.

I'm in the process of dismantling it to see what exactly broke.
