Putting this here cuz this is wher the CA traffic is. I need an alternator, I guess mine is shot. can be the only thing left. anyone willing to spring me a deal? I am on my last rope with this, I have barely any money, and this is the final attempt at this project. If it doesn't work, then the car is beign parked for a while. I need reliable transportation.

Someone on here was selling one not too long ago. I'm sure they'll chime in and help you out. If not, you can send it my way and i can rebuild it but the parts probably aren't cheap and you'd have some downtime.

If the rotor and stator are ok then it is rebuildable. More than likely there aren't that many miles on the car so the brushes should be fine and if the regulator is ok then we could just do a rectifier and some bearings maybe. Probably 40ish for the rectifier and 10 if you wanted to do bearings and of course i wouldnt' charge labor...i'd just need shipping money. If you don't find one...let me know and i can help ya out.

Lifetime warranty is good. Th problem is, I had mine checked, and it was said to be fine. I need on that someone was using or something and they kno it is fine. Or a lifetime warranty, that works too.

Check to make sure you are getting 12 volts to the bigger wire at the back of the alternator and then you should also be getting 12 volts to at least one more wire when the key is on.

Also, if you could try and describe what the plug to the back of the alternator looks like i may be able to tell you which wires do what. I'll try to remember to check it out today but sometimes i forget things.

Well, the alternator has already been checked. but, the only thing left is the alternator. There is a place near me that will rebuild the altenator for $85, so i will probably do that, unless someone has one for me....

I meant you should check the wiring to the alternator to make sure that is not the problem. The large wire that goes on the post with the nut on it will be direct to the battery so it should have 12 volts. I'm not sure exactly what alternator our cars run and since mine is not here at the moment...i can't check to be sure but pulsar ones have a 2 wire plug that goes into them and one wire is the ignition lead and the other is the sense lead and those 2 should have 12 volts to them with the key on. It would take a minute or two to check that out and then you could eliminate wiring from the equation.
