I posted this in the Nissan / Infiniti Wanted (WTB) subforum, but this one definitely gets a lot more traffic. Hope you guys don't mind me crossposting here.

Due to my user error, some of my upper intake manifold bolts got stripped and I would be unable to reuse them after removing them (luckily I did not remove any). I need to put threadlocker on my power valve screws, so I require replacements for some of these bolts. I'd like all 13, really. I have a 2001.5 R50, and here is the upper intake manifold diagram from the FSM:

Nissan no longer has these bolts for sale. I have scoured my local (and not-so-local) junkyards, none have any VQ35DE motors I could scavenge the bolts from. If somebody can obtain these bolts for me, I'd gladly pay the price you paid for them, shipping costs, and your junkyard entrance fee (if applicable). My zip code is 34990 (Palm City, FL). If you could, please number the bolts somehow (masking tape + number written in Sharpie around the bolt shaft, perhaps?) as they are all different lengths; that'd make things smoother when the time comes to replace them.

Thank you in advance!

Why not pull them one by one and make a run to Ace and pick up the right length in grade 8 stainless??

I dont quite get why nissan wouldnt make them anymore, I thought companies were required to keep parts for cars up to 10 years

Best of luck

Problem is if the hardware store(s) didn't have bolt #13's size (its head is too stripped to remove using a 12mm socket) and possibly the other ones that have started to strip, I'd be SOL with no way to put the bolts back in. But your idea is valid, perhaps somebody could help me out by taking off their upper intake manifold bolts and seeing if replacements are available at hardware stores, and if so buy them and ship them to me. I'd think you wouldn't even have to remove anything but the engine cover just to take the bolts off, just make sure you remove and tighten them in the proper order and torque spec once finished (but don't quote me on that).

1. How did you strip them? Let's make sure somebody else doesn't make the same mistake.

2. You don't need "Grade 8 stainless" Grade 8's are normal steel. Typical stainless bolts are the equivalent of about Grade 6, and Grade 5 would be be fine for hold an intake manifold on.

3. Have you tried the online Nissan parts folks? If nothing else, their online parts book will tell you what size you need.

4. My local small-town Ace HW has a GREAT selection of metric stuff (inc stainless).

The ratchet was set wrong (tightening rather than loosening) - really dumb mistake, but a friend was the one attempting to take them off. And really, only one's head is stripped beyond further usability, but a few others have begun to strip. And Courtesy Parts does not sell them, but I just sent them an email asking whether they know the specifications of the bolts. If I do end up trying the Ace HW route, do you think I should obtain replacements for all 13 or just the ones that are stripped?

If some are stripped, while your at it, just replace them all, and put a dab of anti seize so when you take them apart again they arent a hassle to get off.

They shouldn't be a hassle to get off I think, they're spec'd at 13 to 15 ft-lbs. They would not be difficult to get off had the ratchet been set properly.

I'm surprised the head stripped rather than the threads.

I have no idea of the condition of the threads. We didn't attempt getting bolt #13 out since a 12mm socket will no longer move it.
