Has anyone noticed that the timming marks on the asp pulley are placed in the wrong spot..??

Was this an error on asp's part or did i just happen to get a pulley for the wrong yr 240sx or did i just get one from like the 1st gen of pulley's b4 they realized that they messed up or are they all like this..??

Im just curious cause i had both the asp pulley and the oem pulley sitting one on top of the other and i noticed that the timming marks are NOT in the same place....

The oem pulley has them sitting at like the 1 oclock position and the asp pulley has them at 11 oclock...

This was fixed on my part and now the REAL timming marks have been placed where they should be..!! ( by the way this was done like 2 yrs ago i was just curious to know what was going on and this topic just now came to mind and i felt like posting to see what everyone else thinks of this)

So you made your own timing marks and the car ran better? Are you sure the marks aren't misplaced do to a size difference? I'm just guessing here...

The ASP marks ARE NOT acurate at all...they look like they were made with a screwdriver and a hammer.

Mine were close enough for TDC, and for 20*...but the ones in between are not evenly spaced.

I can't believe they still haven't corrected that. I suppose it's a good reason to get a UR pulley instead.

thinking about this today.

i just did a HG and studs 2 weeks ago. i set the engine to TDC using the asp pulley. when i pulled the head off the #1 piston was at top dead center or very very close. could have been off a couple degrees (hard to tell jsut by looking at it) but it didnt arouse any suspition at the time

Yeah, the marks are close enough for most any application...

If I was able to NOT blow may car up with my hacked-MAF testing and timing adjustment, then they've got to be quite close.

...and agian, I checked my TDC and 20*...they were spot-on...but the marks in between were just not even...no big deal, really.

I guess u guys got a pulley where the timming marks are not that off.. but in my case if you have the motor at TDC on the compression stroke, the TDC mark should be at about the 1 oclock position...

On mine, its at 11 o'clock, so thats quite a bit off.

Thats why i had to re-mark it on mine to make sure the timming was set right...

Thank God i didnt set it according to the asp marks and pushed 15 psi..... That would have been VERY bad..!!!
