after a long struggle with a shipping company (they dropped the engine and effed it up), pulling out my ka24e in my 89 240sx, I've come to the conclusion that the "ka24e" longblock that I ordered is not a ka24e at all. It doesnt come close to lining up with my transmission, and the motor mounts dont line up, theres no spot for the starter( I think its the starter that is on the back of the block/bell housing)

either way I've established that I cant use the engine and I have to fight the engine company into giving my the right engine. now i just want to know what engine they sent me. the label on the packaging and gasket kit says ka24e but heres what all I know about it ......

1.- its sohc2.- 12 valves3.- similar size as my ka24e4.- doesnt get wider in the back to line up with the transmission, actually stays square doesnt get wider at all5.- its nissan

WHAT ENGINE COULD THIS BE??????????

is that, that engine company from Ebay? Hmm not sure I was looking into them as well. But it could have been that they got the ka24e truck mixed up with the 240 one.

Hell maybe its a JDM KA but I highly doubt that one haha.

JDM or not, if its a KA for the 240 it'll fit.

He might be on to something. Maybe they sent you an old Stanza engine or something?

So I called the people who sent it to me and they told me that they made 2 different KA24e, one in japan and one here. they said because my cars vin had a 'J' at the beginning that the engine I had must be the one from japan and he must have sent me the other one. but he wasnt sure so hes gonna "check it out and call me back". 2 days and 3 messages later theres been no response. am I mistaken about one engine has been put in the USDM 240sx engine bay and the pics of my engine looking like every pic of an sohc KA on here. is there any truth to what he says, are there 2 completely different engines that dont line up w/ eachothers transmissions in 89 s13s? this guy sounds like hes giving me the runaround while he tries to figure out how he focked up and sent me the wrong engine.

I beleive J is normal for nissan cars, more specifically JN1 means a nissan passanger vehicle. Do you have the VIN? You could do a carfax report on it or something and that should tell you all you need.

J is normal. It's just saying the car was made in Japan and shipped here. My best guess is that it's a Stanza engine.

anymore pics? the engine code should be stamped on the side of the block somewhere. how many spark plugs does it have. not a stupid question if you know nissan engines, which you dont seem to since you dont even know what the starter is.

I'm sure you could post another thread on here asking for someone to do a carfax report for you, quite common actually.

Look at it this way--it doesnt really matter at all what motor it is. Its not the one you need, so call those screws up and tell em youll have an attorney contact them if there is any problem getting you your money back or sending you the correct motor.

Its not hard--if its not the right one, its not the right one. They may give you a hard time--thats is--right up until you have an attorney call them up.

got ahold of them apperently they dont know what they sent me, and now they dont have ka24e I need. so they want me to send them the engine they sent me and my engine so they can rebuild it. more sh*it I gotta do and more time till I'm rollin again. plus I'm a little hesitant to send both engines back. guess I'll have to go clean out my engine bay to pass the time til I'm outta my Lincoln town car
