I'm in the process of putting a manual in my 89 Non-ABS car. I picked up what was said to be a NON-ABS manual drive shaft (both pieces). The front section appears to be an inch too short. The car is still up on jack stands. Did I get the wrong drive shaft?

:help

put the car on the ground and look at it again. I know pain in the *** but that shaft may push in to the trans when you set the car down. if you have car ramps pull up on those then get under there and see if it slid in. when you layed the shafts side by side on the ground to be sure they were the same did you notice any length difference then?

Thanks for the reply. The front is on ramps, but the rear is on jacks stands. I was hoping too that it will 'settle in'. Someone mentioned that there may be a dust boot? It looks like it should slid all the way in, but I have nothing to compare it to. I know that it's a manual driveshaft and it's longer than my auto one. I have read that there is a difference in ABS and non-ABS. The one that I bought was advertised as a M/T non-ABS driveshaft.

I will say the tail housing in your picture doesnt look right to me. So maybe thats it, its just missing the metal dust cover?? the important thing is how far did the shaft slide in on the output splines. if its a good 2 to 3 inches in I think you'll be ok

Well, it looks like that's all that I was missing: the metal dust cover. Thanks for the replies!
