Hey guys I need some help so I got in an accident on Thursday got sandwich between two cars. The lady who hit me from the back didn't want to exchange information when it happen. So im waiting on the police report to get all that info. Anyway what I need to know I had couple aftermarket parts on my car and I was wondering if my or the person who hit me insurance will cover and replace those parts. Also I have a new CF hood that I would want to put on my car. I was wondering if I could bring that to the shop and ask if they could put that on would they? Also I would love to have the Stillen front bumper I was wondering if I could get that bumper instead of the oem one they will put on, on the front. Hope you guys have any information for me thank you guys and girls

Hi. Sorry about your accident. Hope no one was hurt. Last summer, a car went through a redlight, causing me to swerve, & I clipped the tail end of a vehicle waiting for the light to change. I live in PA & my insurance company, Geico, refused to pay for the vehicle I hit, determining it was a 'phantom vehicle' causing the accident.(The 'phantom' driver never stopped). Luckily for me, there were witnesses, but I had to put in a damage claim to Geico for repairs to my '10 Altima Coupe, including aftermarket parts such as a 4pc aluminum billet grille, 2pc Colgan Custom bra, fog & driving lights, body-color painted eye lids & an Optima Yellow Top battery. Altogether, it came to about $1000 of the $9000 claim. I've been dealing with the same repair shop for over 15 years, & I provided them with the parts receipts prior to the insurance investigator making his inspection & assessment, & the shop simply included the cost in with the rest of the damage estimate. I re-ordered the parts myself & just brought them to the shop & they were installed with the rest of the repairs. Everything went smoothly with no problems or questioning. Except my premiums went up $200/yr. Good luck.
Note: make sure you check the work carefully before you drive out of the shop. I had to bring my car back for adjustments, because I didn't notice until I got home, the hood gap & bumper gap were not even. It was a simple fix.

Yep no one was hurt. So if I wanted to put on a Stillen front bumper I could just tell them. thank you for answering my question. I do have my old receipts for my rear bumper so just give them that and they will put that in the estimate. also what about them putting my new hood on I have the part just sitting in my house doing nothing hahaha.

Get an estimate from the shop were you are going to have it fixed before you have the adjuster look at it. If the shop is willing to do the estimate with the aftermarket parts you should be able to make it work. The insurance may or may not go for it. Sometimes they will, but sometimes they only want to use oem (or stock aftermarket replace parts). All depends on the adjuster and the company. If you have an estimate already done from a shop that is willing to do it, then they would be a hell a lot less likely to fight it. Good luck either way, glad no one got a hurt, cars and parts can always be replaced! Good luck.
