They couldn't care less about any recent repairs, new parts or mods. My 99 now has 160K. I paid 4500 for two years ago and I figure that I'd be LUCKY to get 3800 for it today. And that's after all the crap ($$) I did in my sig. The more I learn about these things the less I'd pay for one. I LOVE the car, but I'd keep my wallet closed pretty tight when looking for a replacement Qbomb.

I have a buddy who dabbles in used imports. You'd be amazed how little market there is for many of them, and consequently what they are worth.

It's a damn shame about your car. Buy it back and cannibalize it for parts. Spend a couple grand for a decent used model and you're all set. Just ask Andy.

PS....how much do you want for the grill and hood struts??????

Oldmako- I see you're using a synthetic blinker fluid. Do you think that's wise? I've been looking for one of those $3 gizmos for a long time. Where did you find yours?

The only person slap your face is the one that hit you

Hell yeah! Make sure you take all the new mods recently installed for later use or sell. That how I did it.

I got ~$10.5K for my immaculate '99 Q with 72K two years ago. Granted, it was from my own insurance company. But it certainly helped that I handed over a stack of records and comparables.

I picked it up at Advance Auto. It works like a champ although the reservoir is small and makes for frequent emptying. The M1 blinker fluid was a bit more difficult to find. I ended up getting a quart at the local Victoria's Secret. They also had it at Frederick's of Holywood, but the price was a bit inflated and my wallet is a bit skinny.

There is another new miracle polymer called "Astroglide" which I have also had great luck with. I highly recommend it and so do most of my recent @#$%^&*.

Keep beating them up... I got over $5K for my 1990 in 2006 and it had over 200K on the odometer. Maybe I just got lucky, but their first offer was something like $2300. I came back at over $7K and we met sort of in the middle several weeks later. They kept saying that the market didn't reflect the settlement I was demanding - and my response was that the car wasn't for sale when their client plowed in to me.

You just need to go on the attack. The goal for that insurance adjuster is to get the least amount of money out of their pockets and into yours. Take your stack of receipts and take pics of the car now if you didn't have any before and show them that while the mileage on the car shows 175k that you had renewed it with more then they are offering you. Then at the very end, when you get as much as they will give you demand the carcass back from them. Then find a used one in decent shape and move your goodies onto it or sell them to us folks

I have found that insurance companies don't like people that will not go away, they just want you to go away, so if your a pest they will give you more, but frankly 5k is probably the most your gonna get, which sucks. I would cry if my car got totalled right now, I have 92k and I'm a 9 out out of 10 too.

At some point you need a declared value, have a 84' 300ZX and it is a 8 out of 10 with 162k on it, I have declared value of $7500 on it regardless of what happens my insurance company has to pay up to that value.

i was talking to the adjuster today and he said that the only thing that i would have to do find vehicles to compare it to and he will look at working with me so i went on autotrader and found 4 other q45 with close to the same mileage and they range in price from $6495.00 to $7995.00 asking. i dont know the compant that they use to do there evaulations but lets see if i can make him eat his words......

Condition <will> figure in to what insurance company will pay.

Only problems is to them <everyone> claims theirs was the one perfect one..

If you have receipts of work done under 12 months ago it would really help your case. Add to that quotes form nice Q with/ year milage provide a couple prinouts.Think of it as the thousand dollar minute

Very nice! $1K over KBB retail makes it worth holding out - although I'm sure you'd rather still have your car pre-wreck. Did you get a chance to pull any of your recent parts off?

I totaled a Maxima once and they let me spend a few "quality hours" with her taking out my aftermarket ad ons. Little did I know someone would rebuild the car. I know they cussed me for days for slicing my way through wiring harnesses to get to my alarm, CD changer, etc.
