My M35x has some rust spots on the roof mostly between windshield and sunroof.
I am planning to take it to a body shop to fix it properly - they will remove windshield, take care of the rust sport and repaint front half of the roof.

1. Do you think it's a good idea to wrap the roof with vinyl or some other highly reflective film to protect it?
2. Do I need to wait with wrapping after repainting the roof?

It looks good, IMHO, here's some images I found on the internet -

Are you sure that's vinyl and not paint in those photos? And yes, you should probably wait a month for the paint to fully cure before wrapping it, same as you would wait for it to cure before waxing paint. Your paint shop will tell you how long you ought to wait.

I would add that if you have the wrap done, you should also get a fin antenna in black. Probably easy to find at your dealer. The FSM should tell you how to replace it.
I just found one on E-bay for your year:

Done it, and I'm about to wrap it on my own this time... What size are you getting?
