Just a heads up, I don't know if things are different in the US, but here in Ontario/Canada, you have the right to take your car to any shop, not the insurance's preferred. I suggest you take your car to a Nissan Dealership especially if you are still under warranty. Why? If something goes wrong, say the headlights fry after getting it repaired, the dealership cannot say that the work was not done by Nissan, and they cannot/will not cover it under warranty. 2. Insurance is going to cut corners to save $$, for example use re-manufactured parts on a new car, normally you ok say fine, but on a new car come, on that's why you pay insurance right? A shop wont fight insurance, if they disagree if something needs to be changed, they wont care they don't have to cover the part in question nor does insurance. Take it to Nissan, they will argue otherwise, they would rather fix the problem, and any potential issues, that might be caused so you don't have to come back, and potentially dip into Nissans pocket to fix a potential issue.
I was rear ended at a red light in my 07 camry (now my moms car since I bought the altima coupe). I thought ahead of time to call Toyota to see if there would be issues with the warranty after the repair, sufficed to say they were upfront and said save yourself the headache get toyota to fix it and we cant argue done the road that issue B is related to issue A when party B fixed your camry. Then the insurance company tried to use a re-manufactured bumper on a brand new car, Toyota argued against it and my insurance company decided to use a new part when toyota threatened to call me, sufficed to say I was told that when I inquired why its taking so long to fix the bumper. Not to mention the adjustor carefully missed things that needed to be fixed, after toyota took a look at it, the adjustor enedup paying my car another visit and approving the repairs toyota insisted upon.
Long story short I doubt any car company is going stand by the repairs of a third party. You have the option to choose whom fixes your car, save yourself the unnecessary headaches possibly down the road, just take it to Nissan. Let them fix it, let them make sure your new car runs brand new after the accident.
My two cents.
