“A lot of people are buying them as an investment,” Mr. Casella said. “Better than gold.”

Ahh, I think the 401k is the way to go?

I wonder why?

You should have been with Repo, Nate and I a few weeks ago at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show. I don't think I have seen so many people standing in line to fill out their paperwork and get background checks done so that they could buy a firearm. Apparently an Obama Presidency is very good for gun dealers. I expected a run on 'Assault Weapons' and 'Black Guns.'

I have resisted the temptation to go on a spending spree. I prefer to stock up on ammo since that is what the gun grabbers have been targeting. The reality is this, we survived the Clinton Administration and the mis-guided 'Assault Weapons Ban' that really never made certain semiautomatic sporterized military style weapons or high capacity magazines illegal.bud

I know I would stock the hell up if I was stateside. Might have to send my mom some coin and a shopping list. She trusts the government less than me and knows how to modify a sear. Oh and the government will be coming for your 401K sooner than your guns.

401k's are way too overrated, and most people don't even know how to use them aside from throwing money at it because their employer tells them too. The average American investor should not have a 401k.

ABC's Nightline just did a piece on booming economy of gun sales. Well guys welcome to three weeks ago when we were at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show and people were buying guns left and right. Oh and Martin Bashir ended the segment with snide comment of "People are stocking up on deadly guns." Stupid Brit.

It will be good for them until he passes his taxes and legislation for gun control.

I agree with Telcoman. This is scary. I'd be scared of what Nancy Pelosi will try to do to gun ownership.

Yup start teaching young children about guns,

This dad has no more problems.

I wonder what kind of abuse made this kid use that gun?Or perhaps this was just another nutty family clinging to their guns

Im not to keen on gun laws but i believe they should not be banned nor the amount of ammo you have restricted. but i do believe in more strict guidelines of getting guns. Like even have courses of how to handle them, lets face it the average american isnt a gun slinger. Many time on news ive heard about kids blowing each other brains out because of the neglect and storage,or there lack of storage.

Yes lets blame the gun, not the kid. If he wanted to kill them and there were no guns around there are plenty of other ways. Keeping guns away from people doesn't prevent violent crime, it just prevents shootings.

typical liberal behavior, blame the gun not the guy behind the trigger. No idea of responsibility. "I didn't want to run over that crowd of kids officer, it was this damned drift car", we should ban cars. Stupid

First of all, my firearms are locked up so that my child can not get to them. Second, of all she knows that only daddy should handle them, but then again she is 3 and will still need reinforcement of that fact.

With that said, nothing, nothing takes the place of good old fashion parenting. Not sure what the circumstances of this case are, but reading the article posted I am sure there is major dis-function in the family. But then again, I am not going to use a family's pain and loss to grandstand politically just to make my point. I believe in responsible civilian firearms ownership because of the merits behind it. Not because it is some emotional issue that has been played out in the media. Please go on living in fear, Howie, of Criminals and Responsible Gun owners. I am sure that being the victim is what promotes people on your side of the aisle.

I do believe, Howie, we have all been warned (I believe by Hash) about posting news articles in Firearms related threads as a defense. Yet you have done it here with this MSNBC article and the article about the kid with an Uzi at the gun show in Mass. For every one article that you post up, I can post up Newspaper three news paper articles of armed citizens defending themselves against criminals. We could go on and on until we get sick of it. If you have something intelligent to provide to this discussion, please by all means provide it.

NRA maintains a database of "Armed Citizen" accounts online.

Some people, especially gun enthusiast are the most paranoid. This is just a repeat from 4-5 years ago when the 10-year-old ban was lifted. The gun fanatics went crazy and purchased over priced assault rifles out of fear thinking that another ban would take place. There are more pressing issues on the table than gun laws for the new president to deal with.

...but, yes people are buying them as investments. I bought a Rock River AR-15 pro-series elite fully dressed with aim point, Daniel defense, etc.. 10-11 months ago and now that same gun is $800 more.

Obama's Policy Dated 11-07-08 wrote:http://www.change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the TiahrtAmendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important guntrace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solvegun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsensemeasures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping gunsaway from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closingthe gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also supportmaking the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong onforeign battlefields and not on our streets.

We'v got a damn nice collection, and enough ammo to last us through WW3.

Gotta say my favorite outa the 40-50 that we have is the 22-250. That thing goes off like a cannon with a 5 foot barrel of flame. Armalite AR-15 with a trijicon scope comes in close second.

Never forget the first time i emptied a clip out of an ar-15 at the NRA range in Fairfax. No recoil, amazing accuracy with a mounted bi-pod.

I've never owned firearms. The hobby has never been that interesting to me, but I'm tempted to buy if my right to own is threatened.

Likewise, I'd write tens of thousands of pages expressing my views if I thought my right to free speech was threatened.

With a quick check online most AR-15's have doubled (at least) in price.

I swear people can only be motivated by fear.
