first off, i agree about the z51.

but the z06 costs more b/c its not just the engine. for one thing, that z06 engine is likely underrated.... kind of like how the '325hp' camaro ss from 98-02 would dyno at 305+hp at the wheels. secondly, you don't buy the zo6 just for the engine. the z06 has a substantially revised suspension and body over the base c6. it actually has balsa wood flooring to reduce weight (among other things). the z06 is a complete performance package -- more power, less weight, better brakes, better suspension. thats why its 20-30k more.

*edit* i forgot, someof that cost HAS to be in the fact that currently the ls7 is handbuilt while the ls2 (400hp) is not. AND its not like you can always tune a car into better performance (especially at this level -- you are talking supercars, the absolute best in the world here). the newest calloway rendition of the c6 barely runs with the z06 at a cost of 100k or more.

People who started this thread, please fix the links/photos? I can find other propaganda on the new GTR but I wanted to see if yours is different; but none of it is working.

Lol, well granted nissan doesn't have the design down quite like porche or ferarri, you also arn't paying porche or ferrari prices for a GTR either. Still, I like the car, wing and all. It looks menacing.

I just saw the pictures last night, and I think it looks wicked awesome. Aesthetically, the only thing I might change is the design of the wing. I know it is functional and all, but I just don't like the way it looks. It reminds me of one of those riceboy wings.

Very true. The point is I much prefer the curvacious bodywork of the c5 Vette, FD RX-7, Porsches, and modern Ferrraris to this. Such elegant work is more reminiscint of a beautiful woman as opposed to a fantasy artists rendition of a knight wearing heavy armor.

i dont buy the idea that the gtr is faster than the 997 gt3. on the basis that they are probably using the gtr evo which is their top of the line gtr. If they wanted to fight a top of the line porsche they need to wait until the new gt2 comes out. and imho the 997 gt3rs would probably beat the gtr as that is the current top of the line porsche race car for the street. bear in mind that the 911 is rear engined, is only rear wheel drive on the gt3 vs. the gtr's awd. and the gt3 has 415 horsepower without turbos. still less than the gtr evo.

Consider the cost of a GT3 (MSRP 106k) or even a GT2 (~200k) for that matter. The new GTR with that much power under 100K is a sweet deal if it can handle as well as either Porsche, and if it comes with a decent warranty and J-spec reliability, even better.

The question I'd like to have answered now is: Are they going to be using variable geometry turbo's like the Porsche, or are the future GTR owners going to each need several days of track driving lessons in order to use this car to its full potential due to the very short spike in power with standard turbo's boosted high enough to make a 3.8Ltr motor produce 500hp?

i never said anything about the cost. i think its a great deal for the money.

the variable vane technology is a borg warner product. so im assuming they could sell it to anyone they want. and if i remember correctly they bought kkk turbos

It won't be as peaky of a powerband as you think even with traditional turbos.

This is a BMW 3.2 liter I6 with a GT35R turbo. 300 ft lbs. by 3k rpms and a nice power band all the way to redline making just over 500 wheel hp as opposed to the GTR's crank hp. So, given .6 liters, and two smaller turbos, and even halfway decent engineering (which Nissan is more than capable of) I don't think it will be peaky at all.

In fact I assume it will spool much faster.
