I know I was driving like a grandma - maybe great-great grandma, but I still didn't expect this.
356 miles 9.53 gallons of fuel. US miles and gallons
That's 37mpg on mixed suburban/highway driving, sometimes with 4 passengers.
I never top it off while refueling so under the assumption that it stopped short if I add one more gallon to it, it would still be 34mpg. And my fuel gauge was just a hair under the quarter mark.
And this was only the second tank of fuel in the car!

The Fit can bite me where I like it.... :naughty:

Congrats on that. Similar situation to my best-ever tank, 36.6 mpg. That came on a flat stretch of Florida highway running between 40 and 55 mph with few signals. Car was still quite new.

when i had my spec-v i had an ses lite come on, as many did, regarding the charcoal filter of some sort. and apparently when refuelling we shouldn't 'top it up' so far, this causes the charcoal filter to become gasoline soaked, throwing the ses lite.

so i top up tp the nearest dime now. just a fyi.

I never top it off at all. Fill it slowly to the first shutoff. Over time it all averages out anyway.

i remember now, it was a valve hinge in the evap cannister that would rust up, either open or closed which makes a difference.

edit: i hit 40 mpg today, before i averaged around 36mpg, metric.
