for that price you could buy a set of rhino ramps, tools, oil & filter and do it yourself! And then next time, would only cost you oil & filter.

You ever in my neck of the woods, I'll show you how to do it for free!

I would deinitelly take it somewhere else. Tha's insane.

Are you due for a rotate and balance and maybe a small service? How many miles do you have? What is the breakdown of what they were charging for? I find it very hard to believe an oil change not using ester oil would cost that much.

Well you got a car wash and an oil change for $116.

You may want to invest a couple of hundred in tools, ramps, hydraulic jack etc and you will save thousands. I also rotate my own tires. The first time I had the dealer do it when my G was new they charged $70.It was a sunny 50 degrees outside this afternoon so it was a good day to spend time outdoors.

I went outside to get some exercise after eating a real good meal yesterday.

That was some delicious deep fried turkey

Got out my 4 ton jack

Time for my 23rd oil change

Tell him he's a sack of sht for charging you nearly $200/hr for labor. I would've told him he was a sack of sht at $65...

Last time I was at the dealership for service, I had my oil changed and a multi-point inspection, so essentially a full-service, plus car wash & vacuum. Total amount charged for labor, $9.75. Parts, $8.28. Expenses, $0.98. Grand total of $19.56 (provided my own oil). Last time I didn't have them use oil provided by me was 2007. Ended up being $41 with some of the additional stuff they did for me since I put her in storage that day.

Bring your own oil if you want to save some money and still use their services. Remember that Jiffy Lube and other quick lube services place is not using someone who performs oil changes on Infinitis day in and day out.

If the breakdown of the charge is from mostly oil then I would question what they are using. If it's labor I would be curious to know what percentage of an hour they are charging for a routine oil change and service inspection. The average is ~0.3-0.5 /hr basic labor rate charge, plus any applicable shop fees (oil and filter special disposal is not cheap!). There are some places that will give you a deal on it, but is that really how you want to treat your G?

Quick question:

Does the customer lounge have all the free drinks and snacks you could want?

If so, get the oil change and when you leave, make sure that new oil isn't the only thing you're not leaving with... if you catch my drift

My dealership says they are gonna have to hold my car another hour... That's fine with me, because the sooner they get done with my car the sooner their drink and snack shortage will cease.

Stop going to Infiniti for an oil change. I pay $29. for a synthetic blend and OEM filters at Nissan.

It's like a sore d!ck... you just can't beat it.

Are you going there asking for just an oil change, or are you asking for something like "15,000 mile service"? I remember my 7500 mile "service" which comprised of an oil change and tire rotation was quoted at $150 for all the dumb checks that they do - the whole ordeal took an hour. Fortunatly, I didn't pay anything per my agreement for the new car...

Ask how much an oil change is alone. It shouldn't be more than $30.

Just wanted to say that I got an oil change on my winter vehicle at a regional retail oil change place. I got the full service because its cold and I don't want to deal with it. The oil change itself was more there than it was at Infiniti for an oil change and full inspection.

I don't understand how your dealerships are ripping you guys off.

Are they recommending Ester for all HR engines now?

They are not recommending any change in the oil for the existing (pre 08 models), there is no testing going on as far as I know.

If the theoretical claims of this product are indeed true it may beneficial to all engines. I have no facts/proof or any relevant information on other engines. It seems like it may help with a slight decrease in friction may help highway MPGs, and decreased engine load. I can't go on record making any claims. lol If it were cheaper and I had a modern Nissan I would think about using it, it couldn't hurt it's still oil.
