I do. I rarely play it though. Never could get into it.

But two of my friends just bought it so I'm getting into a lot more sense I get to play with them.

Eonar server here. Only a level 29 and I've had the game sense it came out lol

EDIT: Hey did you notice this WoW thread you made was your 240th post? lol

I can't play most RPG's. I can play some of the ones that you control each of your character's moves directly. turn-based and those that you don't have direct control of the action is like civil war style warfighting.

MMO's are the only RPG's I can actually play for any amount of time. They all feel so empty (specially marrowwind)lol...

Cept for Mario RPG but that's another thread.

I dont think its 50 bucks a month, i thought it was 15 or something like that. I would rather buy a new game every month then spend it like that!

its 14.99USD for the basic subscription, it winds up being slightly less if you pay for chunks of time I think, like 3 or 6 months in advance. They say its non-refundable but if you make a big stink they generally give the unused portion back in order to avoid bad publicity.

i'd played for a while. actually have a lvl 68 hunter. Then i got seriously fed up of constantly grinding for XP, quests or killing stuff is boring as hell. it used to be fun, but the time spent for the rewards, it's just not worth it at all.so i canceled my account about a month ago. NEVER BEEN BETTER!!!! now i just work on my car after work, and occasionally play battlefield online.

I probably would, but I HATE superheroes/comic books.

The only reason I play WoW is because of the Warcraft setting/storyline continuation.

You know something's wrong when killing stuff is actually boring.

Exactly. That is my biggest beef with MMORPGs: there's less skill involved than luck. Everything is chance. I'd rather play a game where I aim myself and if I miss it's because I suck, not because a random "die roll" says I missed.

There is a reason for it, though: there's a LOT going on at once, and it would be insane to synch up 5 to 40 or more people plus monsters in real-time combat.

Pen-and-paper RPGs are the same way: there's WAY too much riding on die rolls. When I shoot at you from 3 feet away with a shotgun, the only die that can express my chance to hit is a one-sided one.

Still, I enjoy playing wow with friends.

exactly the problem i had. 68 lvls of hunters mark, send pet to attack, aimed shot, spam arcane shot till target dies..... that and boss fights, their actions are all set. 85% health this dude spawn elementals, 50% he summons giant fireballs that kill the group. So let's keep trying till he doesn't kill us.

at least in battlefield, human players change strategies constantly. Each battle is different, and machine guns are cool!

Kind of a bassackwards argument, actually. XBL is the embodiment of paying for features you should get for free.

WoW has downloadable content, server hosting and friends lists. I have no clue what the hell matchmaking is, sounds like some gay Xbox buttsexing.

I guess you don't know why you have to pay to play WoW. The subscription goes to pay for:1) server maintenance (which happens EVERY Tuesday... or it used to be Tuesday. Happens once a week at least)2) pays for the insane amount of content they release as patches (some of which could be sold, and would have been sold , as expansions by other games such as EQ)3) extensive patches fixing errors, bugs, exploits 4) the probably insane about of bandwidth used by their servers5) Insane amount of tech support6) The teams who are dedicated to work on above itemsI could go on and on.

So basically you pay 15 bucks a month for the online features of ONE game? Xbox Live is $5 per month and allows for online gameplay on every XBL enabled game. Lame argument gentleman.

All of which Xbox Live does. The only reason why content isn't free is because the content is made by the game's manufacturer and your subscription is to Microsoft..

I think it's stupid you're paying for games that will never change even if it's only $5. You're paying for features that are free on every game made on computer (even the games you're playing on your XBox are free), excluding MMORPG's.

One reason I'm afraid of the whole Vista eventually allowing Xbox and PC's to play together is because, will they start charging computers for their updates like they do the Xboxs? If they do, I doubt it'll work because as soon as the updates released it's on 50 million different websites to DL.

And I promise you, your Xbox updates are not as extensive as WoW's are. Even most PC games updates aren't that big.

So updates are your reason for playing 10 dollars extra a month for one game? It's still a weak argument but whatever. I'm happy with a consistent coherent community across all my games and paying a low price for it. I hate the idea of PC vs. console simply because PC's have a huge advantage in FPS's.

Okay, let's break it down. We can use a multi-platform game to point out XBL's weaknesses.

Oblivion.

PC: Free content downloads.XBL: Pay even MORE for a much smaller library of content downloads.

Why is it okay to be paying more for less?

THAT is why XBL is lame.

With WoW, you get regular content updates and you get regular and emergency maintenance. Plus Blizz has to cover the costs of bandwidth, employing GMs and techs, and continual development. The scale of the game's evoltion is FAR beyond anything any XBL game's DLC provides, and you STILL PAY for the DLC much of the time.

Otterman, matchmaking means connecting players and servers. Older games required an IP address, phone number to dial up, etc. Newer games (decent ones at least) have built-in matchmaking in the form of server lists and the like. (Crappy games depend on third-party software like Gamespy which is even more crappy than the games that use it).

Also, while we're on the topic of XBL:Achievements and Gamerscore crap are LAME.

The original Halo (on the PC) used Gamespy and it's online was excellent... I'm happy with the price of Live and the features it affords but I guess I'm naive. Oh well, back on topic. I might look into WoW if someone sells me a cheap PCI graphics card.

I hate Gamespy more then ANY other third-party connection software thing. It was the biggest problem with AVP.

Not to bring this back from the depths, but just wondering for all u WOW fanatics, how does the guild thing work? I'm a level 40 hunter and if i wanted to join a guild, would i have to be level 70? Seems that guilds have some good advantages to it but for the most part it seems that they all require u to be a level 70? This sux if you want to run an instance at which the characters in that instance would mutilate me if i went in there solo...................
