all maximas came with a v6, you're probably talking about a 4th or 3rd gen (i think?) which had hte vg3odet 195hp v6, and i think the 4th gen had hte vq3odet which had 222hp, maximas are much quicker than you think, my stepdads o2 maxima auto vq35de (255hp) put down an auto mustang GT

yeah, maxs are fast for a 4dr car. they dont weigh all too much and have quite a bit of power. with your mods, you have about 165 hp, maybe. you'll be making around 130 to the wheels. a max is making around 150-170 to the wheels for the year you described.

Uhh... try again.. he is making about 150rwhp with that setup. And a maxima isn't gonna lose 55-75 hp through the drivetrain, a damn WRX has that much loss.

That maxima prolly puts down about 180-190whp to your 150rwhp. And yes, they made 5 speeds.

Oh come now! You should know what that "t" means at the end of an engine code.

Jeez, you're slipping

The same setup on another 240 put down around 140hp on a dyno. and if its a 3rd gen max, its only making 170hp, so 150 fwhp is close to correct, and if its a 4th gen, its 195, so 170 to the wheels is pretty close too. i know they made 5spds, but 5spd maxes are not too common.

oops, didnt even catch my own typo, yes it was the vg3ode, not det, and ofcoures that t means turbo, and no max to date has had a turbo stock

I've got a boner for the new Maxima. Fast! My friend works at a dealership and let me rape one out behind their warehouse. It'll smoke the tires, not clean off but definately get some scurrrr going if you know what i mean.

I really like the old 93 maxima se 5 speed. I would definately like one as a daily driver. So much comfort and good power.

The mid-90's maxima's did come with 5sp and up to 195hp. Replace the y+b pipes and you have an additional 20+whp. Intake and UDP add more. These cars were lighter than the 5th gen '00-03's too (222-227hp for '00-01's and 255-260hp for '02-03's).

I have only raced 2 maxima's in the 1/4. One 1990 with mechanical probs pushing 16-sec and a late 90's 5sp with I/E running 14.5-14.7. At the time, stock, I was running 14.9's in my '02 auto...

yea, they are def pretty quick, 14.9 for stock isnt bad at all, especially an auto, my stepdad has an o2 GLE, so its heavy as hell (every feature possible except the spoiler) but its still damn quick, he just spend $11oo on 4 micheline pilot sports (225/5o/17) and the difference is amazing in the corners

I miss my old '92 SE 5 speed. It was a ball to beat the salesmen from Crown Infiniti, in their new Maxima's. I made $100 bet with one in a '96 SE (he didn't see the stick). Bought my wife a nice dinner, with that.

I guess I have to suffer with my '94 Q.....:D

Maxima's are awsome. When they were built, they were actually designed to be a Four door sports car. If you look at the rear windows of some of 2nd gens, they actually have a little sticker that reads; 4DSC (4 Door Sports Car). Nice suspension, decent power that can be made to put down more, and a nice interior. I'd love one for a second car. I have a vid of a 3rd gen spanking a Civic Si (VTEC). The vid is from inside the Civic and you can hear the guy cussin when he looses. I was LMAO.

My buddy has a '92 Max 5spd w/ 160k miles and was running 15.2's on street tires with only a cone filter and y-pipe.

yeah, i think the new 04s have a 6spd, if you can find one. most are that manu-matic thing. we have a few in our club that are pretty damn fast. one of our guys has one that made a 13.7 pass with a slipping auto transmission. he just did a 5spd swap and is about to start spraying.

By new ones I guess I was talking about the older ones... The '02-'03 models? Not sure which years those were made.

I've seen 240 dynos all over the 150whp range with those mods. Bear in mind that not all 240s are the same. Either way I saw 225 in the above post and the number stuck in my head which explains the other bit of my post.

5-Speed Maximas are about as common as 5-Speed S14s.

Yes they do.. When maxima.org is back up head to the dyno section and check out some of the dyno graphs.

No maxima was rated at 200-210hp.

1989-1994 gxe 160HP1989-1991 se 160HP1992-1994 se 190hp1995-1999 190hp2000-2001 222hp2002-2003 255hp2k4 265hp

Unless you're boosted I'd steer clear of any 5spd maxima..

the o4 maximas have the 265hp and optional 6spd, however the o3s also had an optional 6spd with 255hp, the maxima before that had the vq3o and put down 222hp, and the gen even before that was 195hp, however onece the vq3o was introduced, they had the option of a 6spd, the vg3o however had an optional 5spd
