Ok, I am paying for an 8/1 Mbps connection...but my test says I'm on a 25/2.5?

Ha, there's Cox cable's "power boost" deceiving it's subscribers. "Power boost" gives you a little more bandwidth for a very short period of time, then chokes itself back down to normal. Well these tests use such a small file that the power boost gives your connection near WOT the entire time it's testing.

However, give it a 5MB file or more and I wil be limited to a fast enough download, but only 100KB/s upload.

11086? What wireless were you using? Did you mean short-range WiFi of some sort?

Ah!

What is the outbound (from your house) connection system and speed ... that is the real speed measure here since the WiFi N will support the internal speeds quite well.

Yeah, mine gets thrown off by power boost, too. Shows as 17Mb, I pay for 8. I really don't see the point of power boost. If the file's smaller than 5MB, you don't NEED the boost. And it goes away for stuff that is big enough to benefit.

Agree'd, but it's a great advertising tool and if a person ever wants to do a speed test, their connection will spec very well! Just think how happy all the people are that are paying for an 8/1 connection and testing out at 25/2.5. Cox is now their best friend since they think they're getting a hell of a deal and they'll tell their friends how Bad az their connection is...which will generate more sales for cox.

HOLY CRAP! I wish I had a 9Mb upload. I checked my utorrnet stats and it looks like I've uploaded around 900GB of data since I've installed it...and most all of it was with a 640kb (upload) connection.

Maybe the time of day was different?

A lot of factors go into this.

Cox has periodically been upgrading while still charging ~$45/mo for the connection we're on. For a while I could upload continuously around 65KB/sec, then out of no where I could upload right at 100KB/sec. Now I can do a consistent 200KB/s. I should take a screen shot, but I have right around 115GB uploaded showing on uTorrent. It's been running nonstop for a little while trying to get a couple 70-90GB torrents done

I'm glad I'm no the only one seeding. It seems like no does sometimes...

I think I seeded "Grave of The Firefly's" like 180 times.

Christ...this is basic comcast cable too. Which truth be told also has a "power boost" function. When downloading files I usually average a solid 2.5mb/s. Uploading torrents is 200-400k/sI'm quite happy with it:) Usually have the lowest ping in COD4 as well.
