k guys. i have a 93 240sx DOHC and it was running good until one day it just died while i was driving. thankfully i was already in my driveway so i just rolled in. i took a look at the engine and i wanted to see if i got spark or fuel. i got fuel. but no spark. so i pulled my distributor and it was siezed. it wouldnt turn. and a couple teeth on the gear had broken off. so i changed the distributor and while i was at it the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. put it all back together and put TDC and got it running. not great but enough to get a timing light. so with the timing light i realized i had to go a notch back with the distributor so i did all the TDC mumbo jumbo and got it in. then i started it and i could hear loud clicking. i looked and my oil light was on. so i shut it off. it seems im getting no oil pressure. so i called my old boss the mechanic and he said that the oil pump gear could of got knocked down ( or whatever meets the distributor gear inside from the pump) so i should see if it did. well i pulled to cover off the engine and i see a timing chain guide sitting on a cam. broken off and sitting there. and i looked and some of the gears that turn my chain and one of them is missing like every second tooth. thats on one set of the gears. i can see two sets of two. and in one set one of the gears is what i said that has teeth missing. ANY HELP PLEASE

What I am hearing you say in that very looooooong paragraph was that your metal timing chain guide that should have been removed years ago broke off and broke some stuff on the way? Your timing chain gears if I am understanding what you are saying. You also said you aren't getting any oil pressure?

If that is the case I would...

-Get a new timing chain kit (oem comes with new gears etc)-New oil pump-Drain oil pan-Remove oil pan from the car-Check your oil pick up for damage/clogs and replace if necessary.

Put everything back together. Spin by hand a few times to make sure everything lines up. Prime the engine with out fuel or spark. If your oil light is out start her up. Check timing.

98s14inaz Said it all. Just for general information, ANY TIME you have broken metal parts inside your engine (You saw broken teath on hte Distributor) DO NOT ATTEMPT to start the car until ALL metal parts are accounted for. The metal went someplace and you need to find it to limit the damage.

BTW the repairs listed should not take more than a Saturday for most people.
