So i read up on cleaning my MAF sensor......im almost embarrassed to post this. But any way i snapped off a piece in my engine. It still runs and starts, havent driven it yet, but i just want to know what i broke and how serious it is. Ive ordered a fleebay intake so i will be taking out my stock intake, but i still have to drive it for a couple day as is. any help is appreciated.

I removed that sensor and the screws and tried to pull that piece out, which snapped and looks like broken metal prongs. can i just say what an idiot i am one more time?

You snapped a bolt that holds the MAF sensor into the intake.

New MAF should fix the problem. Your symptoms are definitely those of a bad MAF.

yeah that what i was hoping. i was reading on another site about a guy who did this to a new MAF and fixed it. I snapped the connector out after removing those 4 screws and he said he was able to put it back together. anybody here had success with that?

Your car will be in limp mode (2500 RPM max) for as long as your MAF is bad. Also, in limp mode, the injectors are firing simultaneously instead of sequential. Limp mode is designed to bring you home safely or take the car to the shop for service. It would be better if you limit your driving while awaiting for the new MAF sensor.
